Out of curiosity... for those of you who have played in some big buy-in tourneys, WSOP, etc.. What r some of your experiences playing against/meeting some top pros or up-and-comers...??

Who is cool? Who is not? Who stole all your chips? Who did you bust out? Who is a class act? Who is a bum, etc, etc..

I wanna get a better idea of who i should cheer for since I watch the Poker After Dark show and other televised events...

I would have to say my favorites r Ivey, Greenstein, Tuan Le, Phil Gordon........ for different reasons.... I like to watch Ivey and Tuan Le... I liked the books of Gordon and Greenstein so i like to see them do well.......

Don't know any of these guys at all away from a poker table, but just from sittin with them a few come to mind and these are my opinions only:

COOL

Tom Franklin
Phil Gordon
John Gale (Overly nice)
Hasaan Habib (I dumped a coke all over his chips on accident)
Prahlad Friedman (Didnt know who he was at the time though)
Mike Gracz (Ditto)

NOT SO COOL

Victor Ramdin (Arrogant)
Ted Forest (Seemed pissed at all times)
Chua Giang (sp? Ditto)
Men the Master (Threw his cards hard towards dealer when busted)

I would say I was "owned" several times by Habib and Ramdin, I was overly tight then IMO

Im glad Phil Gordon is cool..... his books r hilarious.... what a life he has had.. hit it big w/ some software company and retired in his early 30s i think.. now he just travels and plays poker.. :00hour

I get the same vibe u mentioned w/ Ted Forrest.. he seems like sort of a prick... helluva player, though... seems like the guy never makes a wrong move.

Funny that u spilled ur drink on that one guy's chips.. :mj07: That'll teach him to steal ur pots.. :mj07:

Im pretty in tune with the online poker community. Although im sure theres some nice guys, a few friends of mine who are pretty normal guys have said it is loaded with socially awkward doochebags. One friend of mine has gone to Aruba a few times and met/gone out with some of the top online players (who will soon/if not already top live players) and said they basically were just creepy and weird. Also he said some of the best ones wouldn't even go out, but sit around in a circle and play in the hotel lobby all day/night when the live event wasnt going on.
