My wife and I want to go somewhere for 4 or 5 days in the middle of July and would love some suggestions. Every year we go down to the Texas coast for a while but this year she is pregnant and half of the fun was relaxing with cold beer and sitting on the beach at night enjoying our favorite beverages. This year she won't be drinking and I dont know how long she can handle the sun. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a quick trip that would be relatively cheap and still a lot of fun. We are from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and would love it to be within 5 to 10 hours driving distance. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

CM

Chickenman,

Since you live in TX you know it's going to be hot pretty much anywhere you go, but you could always do the Hill Country blitz. Maybe a night in Austin, then go to Fredricksburg the link it's sort of a touristy (is that a word?) spot, but I took my wife there when she was pregnant and she loved it. Lots of shops to browse, decent places to eat, cozy B & B's to stay at etc. With mama being prenant, the B & B thing is pretty romantic, so with all the hormone things and mood swings you can score some points, to keep in the spirit of MadJack's they also have a pretty nice watch and wager facility:brows: The B & B we stayed @ had a fishing guide on site, so when mama was tired I was able to grab a pole and hit the river. It's really not that far of a drive (was about 4.5 hrs. from Houston, probably about the same from the metroplex). Could also rent a scooter for a day and take a drive, then maybe head to Enchanted Rock or grab some tubes and take a float down the Colorado River, you will be in the sun at some points but it's about 75% shade when you go down the river. The Hill Country is nice this time of year and so is the drive.

GLTA and congrats on the new addition to the family:D

DR.

It has been years since I was at Padred Island. When we go to the coast we usually hit Corpus Christi. There is 60 miles of beach you can drive down so you can always find a pretty secluded spot, nobody within half a mile either way of you. I will keep Padre in mind.

Thanks for the input guys. I have been through Fredricksburgh but never stayed. I will look into the idea today.

Thanks, and keep them coming if you can,

CM

Dr.

Where did you stay when you went to Padre. Was it a party trip so you stayed cheap or did you stay somewhere nice.

Thanks,

CM

I went to Memphis, and Gatlinburg (Smokey Mts.) when I was young but I dont really remember much about it. I was 8 or 9. I think it was pretty fun, but maybe someone has been there recently. I remember it being very pretty up there.

Has anyone been to Branson,MO lately?

I went when I was younger and I had a good time, but I was wondering what it is like now.

Any input would be appreciated.

Went to branson last summer. Hadn't been there since I was about 6, about 20 years ago, and it's changed drastically. There's a lot of side shows to see, singing, comedy acts, etc. Plus there's always silver dollar city. Definitely quite a drive from Ft worth. My grandparents love it (go about 6-10 times a year). take that for what it's worth.

Branson is just Nashville without the History, Class, and Stature.

Visit Tunica and come to Nashville, let me know your intrests and I can hook you up with some tix, or a great rate on rooms.
