R.I.P. Gene Bartow

Former Memphis State, UCLA and UAB Men's Basketball Coach Gene Bartow has passed away at the age of 81.

Agreed Tide - I remember some battles between Bartow, when he was at UAB, and some of the great Memphis State teams back in the day. Back before Dana Kirk went to jail:mj07:

Dana Crook, Keith Lee, Baskerville Holmes, Andre Turner, William Bedford... the Mid-South Coliseum rocked back in the early to mid-80's.

Bartow was one helluva coach. Started the UAB program from scratch. Was very successful at UCLA, but hard to follow a legend like John Wooden.

Toss in Jim Huber the other day and earlier, Nick Charles, from when CNN sports rocked and I'm beginning to feel my own mortality....:scared
