And in 3 years they will want to run him off as well. Just a hunch he will regret leaving West Virginia.....well except for the couch burning part.

Do Rich's early week comments make him a phony?

Or is that just part of doing business?

Apparently, Rodriguez saw on ESPN around 12:30am last night that he had accepted the Tide job, and he became very angry and said that he had not agreed to anything.

He was quoted as saying, "Where do they get this stuff?"

Speculation is that he wants to be able to talk to his wife and tell his players to their faces before it is made official, but UA is still confident that he is coming.

Alabama better hope he doesn't turn them down now, or they will be hung out to dry again.

And yes, in 4 years, they will want to run him out of town if he has not won 12 national championships like Bear did.

Best of luck to Coach Rodriguez if he does come down here and he is going to need it believe me. It seems to me that during this whole process Coach Rodriguez has been a little "Thin Skinned". By that I mean calling in to different sports shows to deny or vent his fustration over reports of his future tells me he might not be able to handle the public side of coaching at Alabama. I don't think there is any question the man can coach but at Alabama there is SO much more to it than X's & O's. He will be under the microscope 24/7,365 days and he needs to understand that. Coach Price did not and we know what happened to him. Alumni meetings, interviews, sports talk radio and internet gossip will be something he will have to deal with like never before. Hope he deals with it better in the future than in recent days. Just my opinion and Good Luck Coach Rodriguez & Alabama. See ya on 11/24/07 in Auburn!!!!:)

There is no deal yet, don't think he will go, just using Ala to get a big raise. Why is it , everyone that Ala wants, doesn't want them ?

Talk about it in The Blue Lot
MORGANTOWN--Citing issues of loyalty, favorite son Rich Rodriguez told his team Thursday afternoon that he is staying at WVU.

Rod met with his team about 3:08 p.m. ET in the team room of the Puskar Center (after Alabama per ESPN had given him a 3 p.m. deadline to acquiesce).

Rodriguez left his office at the front of the building as athletic director Eddie Pastilong walked the other way. Trailing Rod were his son, Rhett, and daughter, Racquel, and wife Rita

Rich Rodriguez decided to stay at home.
Rita seemingly brushed a tear out of her eye as they moved into the team room chambers. Security was posted at the door. But when one loud applause came up followed by the other, the security even began to celebrate.

"He's gotta be staying," said one of the men.

Phil Brady, one of the heroes of the Sugar Bowl, had come out of another door of the Team Room and said, "He's staying. He told the team that sometimes there are bigger things in life than your career and one of them he is loyal. He said he was going to be loyal to the state that had brought him back and the university that had educated him.

"These were his exact words, 'There are certain opportunities a man gets in his life. This is one of them. I am a man of my word.'"

"We're still not done yet," Brady said he told a happy group of WVU Mountaineers.

Offensive guard Jeremy Sheffey was one of the first out of the room: "He said, he's here and let's move on," Sheffey said. "I'm glad he stayed. He promised me that he would finish the deal while I was here and he is.

"We're moving on."

WVU was scheduled to practice Thursday at 3 p.m. for the Jan. 1 Gator Bowl. Michael Fragale, a WVU athletics spokesperson, said a press conference had been called for the Puskar Center at 5:30 p.m.

Terms of Rodriguez's new contract, if any, were not disclosed. Apparently, Alabama had offered the coach in the neighborhood of $12 million over six years.

If he was all that loyal he wouldn't have looked to begin with, nor would he essentially have extorted more money out of WVa. At best it seems he played WVa for the cash, and if they hadnt ponied up more he would be gone....that gets spun as "citing loyalty?"

If I am the WVa AD I tell him to not let the door hit him in the ass. I am so tired of all thes spineless schools taking this bs from coaches.

I dont pass blame on anyone who is trying to get a raise and make what they believe they are worth. You have to strike while the iron is hot, esp. in their business. Im sure Shula, Cocker, and Walt Harris are sick of the bs the schools pull by firing them. Its a business, they will fire your sorry ass, so if you can get more money get it now.

Yea, that coach of yours is an ethical tribute to amateur athletics.

I dont disagree with that. You can search my 5000 or so posts - let me know if you find 1 that said anything good about Mack Brown - extremely improbable. I am not as big on hypocrisy and being a homer like most on here....like, say....you.

But of course since all you can do is be a prick to me you it didnt occur to you that I might agree on this did it when you lobbed what you intended to be yet another unsolicited personal jab? Sorry to disappoint you.

Unsolicited?

Since you are fond of reminding everybody of your posting history.....go back and review your posts pertaining to me. Humor me.

if it was you or me, we would have milked it the same way if we were smart. ala is not what they think they are and big east football is on the rise. everything moves in circles . if they did not match it he was gone. the playing field has changed, there is money were there wasn't in the past.
