FIVE WARS - Trainer Rodriguez moves this thoroughbred down the class scale to face a lower rated field. Look for a good effort in here. This animal has the class to win the race. A tactical ride by Nunez, and this one could bound home the winner.

REMEMBERING RICHIE - I can't play this continual non-winner. Gets the assignment finished occasionally. PARATROOPER - This colt hasn't had any recent accomplishments in sprint contests. I find it hard to play him in this event. Tough to back a three-year old meeting the older ones for the first time. Probably needs more experience. ARCCOS - This young horse isn't going to beat the older ones today, maybe another time. When examining today's Equibase class figure, he will have to notch a much better speed fig than last time out to compete in this turf sprint.

Thursday's 6th race (3:33pm PT) from Santa Anita is a Starter Allowance event for 3-year-olds and up dashing six furlongs on the main track.

#3 Adrosa Sky (7-2) returns as a first time gelding and his new trainer Machowsky is enjoying a productive meet. Maldonado is a profitable 3-for-6 with this barn and he will probably be forwardly placed if he handles dirt and runs back to his good synthetic sprint races.

#7 Black Tie 'n Tails (5-2) exits a romping wire job maiden win at this course/distance and is an obvious prominent throughout threat if able to run two alike. There is not much pace in the paper race.

#4 Fans On the Run (8-1) improved nicely to graduate second time out here for the productive Bejarano/Truman team. He figures to stalk the pace.

#1 He Will (2-1) showed talent in his local debut last spring but the returnee is a patient runner breaking from the negative inside post (5% wins, 87-race sample at 6f) at a speed friendly distance (84% speed bias).

CITY STATE - Has unearthed a soft spot this time. ATASCADERO - Garcia rode this horse for the initial time last time out and comes right back in today's contest. This gelding is number one in earnings per start. Take a good look at this animal in the post parade. WADE - In the last race, finished seventh on the soft turf at Santa Anita. Will most certainly do better in this event.

PRIME ISSUE - Can't wager on this mount in today's sprint of 6 furlongs. Hasn't even hit the board in a sprint race lately. GUTSY RULER - Doesn't appear to be in a satisfactory situation in today's event. SAM SLICK - In any affair of 6 furlongs, I like to wager on a contender that has been looking good in short distance contests lately. Don't believe this racer will do much running today. That last speed fig was somewhat easily forgotten when compared with today's class figure.

INSIDE STRAIGHT - He'll be laying in perfect striking position, right behind the front runners. MOON OVER A BEAUTY - When this jockey and conditioner team up you have to take a look. Gryder and Violette have been great together. Faced tougher in the last race at Aqueduct. Based on Equibase class ratings, this is a weaker bunch, so I will put this horse on my list of strong contenders. That recent bullet 37.1 work shows that this colt is ready for a top race today. VOLUNTARIO - The rider and trainer combination here have a high win percent when they combine forces.

CRESCENT - Have to like this gelding today. If you take a look at his PP lines you see a definite pattern, getting closer with each race. This jock and handler have a profitable return on investment when they combine forces. This thoroughbred coming off a solid contest in the last month is a contender in my humble opinion. GANGSTER MASON - I like that most recent contest on Mar 21st at Mahoning Valley Race Cour where he finished third. ZETH - Rankin brings this gelding back into a race rather than a workout. He knows his gelding is on top of his game. Rankin brings him back again. I suggest you stay with this strong gelding.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 OUR LUCKY ZIP (ML=7/2), #12 JUAN'S PHONE (ML=8/1), #3 MR. MILES (ML=8/1),

OUR LUCKY ZIP - You should normally wager against favorites that haven't raced or show no activity in the morning over the last three weeks. A 'performance bounce' is likely to happen for this horse this time out. May rebound next time. JUAN'S PHONE - Not easy to bet on any racer in a sprint affair if he hasn't finished in the money in a sprint in the last 60 days. Don't believe this less than sharp equine will make an impact in today's event. That last speed fig was mediocre when compared with today's class figure. MR. MILES - Difficult to take this horse at the price after the finish position (tenth) in the last event. I find it hard to bet on any horse in a short distance event at 8/1 when he hasn't shown any successful efforts in sprints in the last two months. This gelding earned a rating in his last affair which probably isn't good enough in today's race.

ALL SNUFFED UP - Bermudez and Huffman teamed up together are a horse gambler's friend. Ran last time out against a tougher field at Mahoning Valley Race Cour. The move down the ladder based on class rating points should suit him well. R DIRTEATER - Figueroa was aboard this gelding in the last race and was impressed enough to take the horse right back. This rider and conditioner's equines have been producing a beneficial ROI. This gelding is in excellent form right now. Ended up third in the last race and comes back promptly.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 CHAIN YANKER (ML=7/5), #3 HOTEL MIKE (ML=4/1), #7 URBAN RENEWAL (ML=8/1),

CHAIN YANKER - Can't play this morning-line favorite off the long layoff. HOTEL MIKE - I cannot play this perpetual non-winner. Gets the task executed occasionally. Another sign that this animal has class. COOKIN SUE - Have to make this filly a solid contender; she comes off a solid effort on Mar 24th. The improved speed ratings over the last 3 races is solid. Dixon drops her in this clash conditioned to win.

Vulnerable Contenders: #3 OUR ADDI BELLE (ML=7/2), #7 SEA LUCY'S REALITY (ML=6/1), #8 DIVA OF DISASTER (ML=8/1),

#4 Maltes (5-2) is a SoCal transplant now under the care of Martin (34%/1st start with trainer). The late runner figures to improve on this circuit but has not won since racing overseas in 2013 (0-for-8 in US).

#1 Nahem (6-5) landed the place in his last four synthetic starts here and was the beaten favorite in three of those races. He an obvious tactical threat from the hedge for Baze/Hollendorfer but will take more win action than he should.

JR's Holiday might be the value play in Transylvania

Friday's 9th race (5:30pm ET) from Keeneland is the Grade 3 Transylvania for 3-year-olds traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the turf course.

#5 JR's Holiday (6-1) had some wild swings in post positions in his last three. On Dec 13, he rallied from 11th place (post 12) to win an Optional Claiming affair and went last-to-first from the inside post in the $100k Kitten's Joy Jan 30. In his last start on Feb 27, he ended up a decent 4th from post 13 in the G3 Palm Beach. Garoffalo shows a +ROI with shippers and he should be heard from late 3rd off the shelf. He drew a decent post today and should offer wagering value.

#1 Inspector Lynley (3-1) ran well from post 13 and post 14 in his last two turf starts at Gulfstream Park. The fresh colt should save all of the ground from the hedge and his new jockey Geroux is an outstanding turf rider (26% wins/turf). Common foe Giant Run beat him by a 1/2 length at the Gulf Jan 2.

#7 Converge (5-2) won the aforementioned Palm Beach off a layoff as the favorite last time and runner-up Giant Run returned to win the Cutler Bay Stakes at Gulfstream March 26. He'll be finishing for the productive Castellano/Brown team.

#8 Catapult (3-1) won his Belmont debut last fall and beat Giant Run that day. Brown excels with layoff runners and he might be this good.

SUITS MY FANCY - If you review the PP's for this horse, you'll see she has recorded the top speed figure at the distance and surface. A repeat race in today's race and this horse has a superb chance to win. Expect better today as this filly gets Lasix for the 2nd time. PEPPERMINT ICE - Trainer Mason moves this horse down the ladder based on class to face weaker company. Look for a sharp effort in this race. Mason brings her back again. I suggest you stay with this hot filly. KARA'S ANGEL - Last time, was entered in a race at Arlington in a race with an Equibase class figure of 78. Dropping considerably in class rating today puts her in a solid position in this race. This is a classic 'Lone Front-runner' scenario. If Murrill gets him out of the gate cleanly it'll likely be smooth sailing. This animal may have too much power on the grass for the rest of the field. At the top of the lane, she could put these away. Have to give this filly a chance. Ran a strong effort in the last race within the last month. A repeat of that last race on Jun 3rd where she notched a figure of 75 looks high enough to score in this affair. SHOPPINGWITHBILL - Was in a $30,000 Claiming race at Churchill Downs last time out. That event had a class figure of 82 and she is moving down in this event. A certain win candidate. When this jockey and conditioner partner up you have to take a look. Perez and Colebrook have been fantastic together.

Vulnerable Contenders: #5 MISS SWIFT KITTY (ML=7/2),

MISS SWIFT KITTY - Will probably be stranded with too much to do down the stretch. The race on May 13th was versus maiden claimers. Pass on this one this time around versus the tougher group.
