I don't think this was a smart decision by Shireffs to send Zardana to FG for that race. Obviously it was smart that he turned out to win it but how could you be happy with yourself knowing you just cost yourself and the Mosses an excellent chance to win a 5M race that has now been brought back to the original purse level because of RA's fitness in this point in time. If RA wins this race, then the Apple Blossom is a go for both teams and Zenyatta for sure had a fitness edge on RA and probably wins and brings redemption for not winning the HOY last year. Now it is a huge question on whether they will ever face each other. He may have won that race but he could have won a much bigger battle if he chose not to send Zardana there.

Good point Striker. Here's a curve ball for you, what if the RA camp never intended to win the race? With all the hubbub about HOY, maybe sending Zardana and RA in the same race guaranteed a payday and an out for RA vs. Z race? (OK, stop laughing. Stranger things have happen in horseracing!) I actually bet Zardana, questioning RA conditioning. The bottom line is, they knew RA wasn't in shape to compete with Z and didn't have the time to get her there. Remember, they said "No" to the Apple Blossom at first, then were basically goaded by the media into saying "Yes". I still believe the Faceoff will happen but, the RA camp will dictate the terms, time and place, not the media.
(OK, now you can laugh).:drinky:

Interesting idea you bring up there. I think as long as they both stay injury free that they will at least meet in the BC Classic at Churchill this year. Another idea to take from the RA-Zardana race is what exactly the plastic crap is doing for certain horses. I don't have the PPs of Zardana handy but I am pretty sure that was a 1st dirt and look at what happened. But I could be wrong about it being 1st time dirt.
