Also, there's the fact that it's hard to imagine the NFL changing one of the basic foundations of the game after so many years with the same size field.

The last change this drastic might be when the league moved the goal posts from the goal line to the back of the end zone in 1974
...........................................................

the last drastic change was when they took away the kickoff return.

and what about getting rid of the intentional ripping of the football ?

its pathetic . They dont tackle no more they just rip at the ball to change the game.

I joked with my friends probably 2 yrs ago that the league would be defunct in 5 years. Little things have happened that have said I may be on to something.

1. Movement of the NFL Draft from 2 key days to an entire weekend. Used to get together for Day one that Saturday, drink our asses off, and have all sorts of betting pools. Now, unless you take off 4 days, good luck with this one.

2. No more games on Saturday. Because of contractual obligations to NBC, and giving them the "marquee" game Sunday night, they did away with Saturdays in order to showcase the NFL's network on Thursday. Let's not talk about player safety while we're on the topic of a 4 day rest for a week.

3. The actual games on Thursday. Pit/Cleveland. No thank you.

4. Then it's 2 monday night games to start the season, and the thursday night game. We can't just have one week per usual. I know some of the hard core gamblers here may disagree, but christ, ESPN has saturated that market with such key tuesday night matchups including Arkansas State. (yes, I remember this game...couldnt even tell you what state arkansas state is in, but we all bet on this one...)

5. Cut the crap w/Player safety. Tom Brady gets 10K fine for undercutting Ed Reed while tackling...trying to at least...and Frank Gore gets 10500 the same week for not pulling up his socks. Who's fooling who, Roger?

6. Don't get me started on more games, and then continue to tell us you want player safety. It's going to come to the point where you will have to sign a waiver eventually.

7. Pope Ray Lewis.

8. The in game experience (going to a live game) is worse than the tv experience

9. Fantasy Football.

10. Now I'm just rambling, but this one will get you thinking. They're really pushing that goose for a few more eggs.

My thoughts:

1. basketball should go to 4 on 4.
2. Raising rim would still be a big man's advantage.
3. PLAYER'S SAFETY in NFL? LESS GAMES or EXTRA BYE at least
4. none of the above are ever going to happen. :0008

Number 1- my friends and I got together each year for the first round and bet a dollar on each first round pick, got drunk had a blast and had a poker game that night, now it's 4 days off, no thanks...

Basketball is the sport which drastically needs bigger courts or higher rims.

At least for the NBA.

How in the world would a bigger court or higher rims trick these lazy-asses into actually trying during a game? I mean they ain't smart but they ain't that dumb.

Hell yes....and extend the field to 150 yards too.......and change over to the metric system too......150 meters.....then erase all the record books and start over again.......raise the time of the quarters to 30 minutes each........a whole new game with about a thousand new betting options......love this......also why not play a game every night ?

fucking morons concerned about players safety.
Get a clue the fucking equipment is the main cause of injuries and field conditions.

remove steel cages from helmets a plastic shiled with avery thick rubber helmet to absorb impact would cut down concussions severly!

Currently in development thnks to my contacts at loacl sports radio and others calling in.

Also the rest of padding to be changed from hrd plastic that has steel rivets holding them together.

a full suit of padded under armour enforced leageue wide or player is fined and benched.

softer playing fields heated so they dont freeze.

now aboout cleats getting stuck and ripping joint tissues i dont know if there's any thing out there to prevent the freak accidents maybe a sole without cleats?

Wide traction bars like off road tires ?

whatever Roger Goodell start there to protect players DO not add games or weeks the season is fine the way it is.

maybe a 2nd bye week will help

better conditioning traing supplment to build stronger bones and joints especially on the running backs and line men those guys take pounding whole games the 5 up front both sides.

Before discussing if expanding the width of the field would even work is there even any viable information about the CFL in regards to the same injuries the NFL players get?
