Just a few notes, some snipped from here and there and some my own. Trying to get my head around the games tonite, so forgive my rambling and please add any comments or opinions that might help for tonite.
The Raptors go for the franchise-record 48th win tonight as Philadelphia comes into town in the regular season final game. This record may not be so important for them (and Sam Mitchell) as getting into playoff form.
The Raptors lost to Detroit on Tuesday, but with Bosh, Parker, Graham and Bargnani in street clothes, the game was all but decided before it started as the Pistons were determined to win their last home game before the playoffs.
The 76ers will be without two of their three best players - Andrea Iguodala and Kyle Korver. The ACC will be rocking and the 76ers will not be intense, but they are young guys with energy and is 7? points too many for the Raptors to be giving?
The drama tonight is in New Jersey and Indiana. What Pacers team will show up? Does Indiana have enough to beat Washington? Or rather, does Washington have enough to beat Indiana? The Pacers got hammered in Atlanta. When the Hawks win a ballgame you know something's going on. Atlanta shot 53% against the Pacers . With Jermaine O'Neal sidelined the Wizards have an opportunity of taking the sixth seed with a win and a Nets loss.
Look for the Bulls to play their game at NJ with playoff intensity as they take aim at a 50-win season and try to lock up the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference . The irony of this... if the Bulls win and the Wizards win... Chicago plays NJ in the first game of the playoffs this weekend in Chicago. The Nets will be playing flat out, for sure, and getting 3? points to boot.
Carter says he wants to play the Raps. That would be emotionally explosive, for sure, but it's not all up to just him, and first they need to beat Chicago. If the Nets can win, they get Toronto in the playoffs rather than the Bulls. Lucky them.
Obviously the Raptors would love to play the Wiz and have a short "warmup" series to get thru the first round. But it might be better for them to play the Nets and get into playoff intensity right away instead of being lulled asleep by Washiington. Just my opinion. In such a series with the Nets, the Raps would likely be favored but it would be up for grabs and would be pure threatre.
Of course if the Wiz can't win then it's all real simple and none of this matters much in terms of playoff positioning. At least that is my understanding...
Leans now to the Raptors, Bulls and Wiz winning, but trying to figure out the point spreads for the Raptors and Bulls. For the Wiz it's pretty much a pickem.
I'll post this now and add any insights that can be found later. Again...any ideas, please fire away!
