Yes. That is a great idea to hire an independent adjuster. So what happens with that? Say he gives me a number of 20K, and the companys adjuster gives a number of 5K, do they just split the difference? Not sure how that helps me unless its the only way to get more. Thanks for the suggestion Cie.

hiring an adjuster to handle your claim is the way to go if its a big claim. they will come over to your house take pictures,interview you & then start negotiating with the ins. company. they work on commission of the claim amount...you sit back & wait.

your agent/broker sounds like a hit & run person....make the sale (hit) & run to the next sale while forgetting about his present clients..& hope that some of the sales stay on the books for him to make commissions on the renewals. obviously a person doing business this way cannot have long term success...but it seems like some don't get it.

normally i would tell people to change agents if they don't like the service but i wouldn't recommend it because of the claim....
