RAVENS

I do not play many NFL regular season games at all as I prefer NCAAF. I do a couple handicapping contests for the hell of it and that is usually enough for me to keep me interested until the playoffs. I follow the Ravens and watch most of the games still with my Dad so I figured I will opine on their games this year.

Opening at the Raiders on MNF football is a dangerous game for the Ravens. First home game in Vegas with fans on MNF should create a crazy atmosphere. My main concern with the Ravens in this game is the lack of time the first team offense has played together coupled with the injuries they have at WR and RB. This is enough for me not to like the side. The Raiders are trending already as popular upset pick so I think I am staying away from them also (though I do like them in a teaser). My initial thought on this game was to go over the total. I got hesitant based on the Ravens offensive concerns, but I am going to stick with my original thoughts.

Ravens Ov 49.5 -126

Despite my concerns about the Ravens offense they still should be able to move the ball against the Raiders defense. The aggressive style of the Ravens defense always presents opportunities for big plays against them and I expect the Raiders to throw a lot of passes in this game. I think we see a couple big point producing plays and get a 28-24 type game either way.

The Raiders will be throwing a lot of passes tonight and the Ravens will be bringing pressure all night. I think this will lead to at least one interception. Like it at plus money.

As soon as this game is over, I will be betting on the Chiefs (hopefully -2.5) big for next week. Ravens can not protect Jackson at all (Villanueva is terrible) and they are struggling to get pressure on the QB, both of these are not good when playing the Chiefs.

Ravens coaching staff is a bunch of arrogant idiots. That loss is on them.

Hit the bet and the prop, so was good for me. I do not think they have a chance against the Chiefs next week. I see a rough year ahead.

I hit it as soon as I could but looks to be 3.5 everywhere. I really do not think it will matter, but I am happier at 3 versus 3.5. I know I am overreacting a tad, but I do not think the Ravens can fix what they need to in a week. They have serious issues at right tackle and lost another offensive lineman. You can not improve your passing game if Jackson is constantly running for his life, especially when they are getting that rush with only 4 which just makes coverage stronger. A bigger concern against the Chiefs is their lack of pass rush. I really thought they would be better, but they had trouble getting to Carr even when they blitzed. Justin Houston was ineffective and the rookie played like a rookie. You can not blitz all night against the Chiefs. When you add this up couple with the fact that the Chiefs own the Ravens, I can only see this game one way and I am playing it rather large for me especially for an NFL regular season game.

Now Stanley is not practicing. He was not his normal self in the Monday night game, so even if he plays, he is not 100%. If he does not play, then Villanueva moves over to left tackle and Jackson will be running for his life all night once again. Another RB, Freeman, was added to the active roster, so I think the Ravens are going to try to run the hell out of the ball on Sunday night.
