Red Foxes -4 over Iona ****
Marist is on some role.ATS wise,winning games and 1st place in the MAAC.This team can put some pts on the bd.But defense is not good yet there winning.
Whittington is the key.Hitting 3's at a 50% Fg rate.Unreal.Has slowed down a little but he is deadly.McClurkin has played so good in the paint.He has a nice 10-15 ft shot and can hit a 3 if he is uncontested.Stilphen is the freshman who at 6'9 plays the post and fd.He is active inside,drives to the hoop and is Brady's favorite player.Even Farmer the other frosh can play both G/F.
But Jordan is the pt gd and he runs the show.Leads the nation in assits.Outstanding passer and playmaker.Hood is the other gd.Ellerbee comes back but his role is now off the bench.He'll help out on defense because Jordan does get beat by quick gds.
Iona has Burtt,Solivar,McCullough at the gds.There much more athletic and quicker.Jenkins in the middle just doesn't get the ball with the Iona gds.They have won 3 of last 4 and Jenkins has seen the ball more.Henson also inside can play big.
Iona can beat any team in the MAAC on any given nite.But again they are so poorly coached.
Two days ago the asst coach who was fired made big news when he sued Iona because he's married to a black woman and Iona officails didn't think that looked good.Iona always has off the court distractions.But tonite they have to worry about on the court distractions with Whittington hitting shots from Rt 9 and the Hudson River.Marist shoots 3's at 41 % compared to Iona's 29%.
Game is on local cable and I'll enjoy it.Packed crowd tonite in McCann.Iona can't win on the rd.
Princeton -13 over Brown **
Brown has played one game in last 22 days.They have a roster of 1 sr,1 jr,4 or 5 sophs and 7 freshman.This is a young team.But Forte and Ruscoe lead this team avg 17 and 12.
Tigers get Owing back tonite.Logan is almost 100% from his knee injury.Venable does everything.Wallace in the middle is a force.Savage and Greenman can also score.
Brown is 15th in the country in 3 pt shooting.Princeton is top in the country in stopping 3 pt shooting.Tigers defense will not let Brown get good looks.Brown is 1-53 at Princeton.But not ats...
Canisius +11.5 over Fairfield *
Gai after blocking 13 shots is on a roll.Quicker Stag gds give Downey and co trouble.But Stags only beat the Griffs 81-80 back in Dec.Griffs have played Rider,Manhattan,Iona,etc tough.Small play.But Downey can keep this closer.Lyr Griffs won at Fairfield by 4.
Yale +11.5 over Penn * small play
I see penn winning by 7 or 8 pts.Penn destroyed Joes the other nite.But Yale is 4-2 ats in last 6 games.
