Oklahoma -13.5 over Texas *****
My Red River Story.....
The first time I ever saw the Red River was in 1972 ...my girlfriend I was dating was from Paris,Texas...I was a junior at North Texas State...went to her house for the weekend which she said was real close to Denton. It was about was about 100 miles away.{ I found out later when Texans say close it has a different meaning when New Yorkers say close} It took 2 hours and she was driving her brand new '71 Cutless Supreme Oldsmobile....going about 85 MPH...that's the fastest I have ever been in a car...
She told me we would cross the Red River and go into Oklahoma since Paris is only 10 miles from the border . I had never been in Oklahoma and thought that was great.The Red River separated the two states....it was a Friday evening and we got out on the Oklahoma side and walked around down by the River...the River wasn't red but its banks were red with red clay...but by the bridge there were hundreds of cars driving into Texas from the OK side...it was almost bumper to bumper...in the middle of nowhere hundreds of cars backed up...my girlfriend told me she forgot ..but on Friday and Saturday's people from Hugo,Oklahoma drive into Paris to buy beer... I thought maybe its the drinking age but that was not the case...beer in Oklahoma only has 3.2 alcohol in it..Texas beer 6.2..so everyone drives into Texas ,gets their beer and drives back...[hopefully that has changed in the past 30-40 years}
I was amazed and never knew Coors,Bud,etc had different beer contents.......
I made many more trips back to Paris over the next 2 or 3 years..in fact I ended up marrying this skinny tall Texan a few years later....and thank god for those Texas genes... I have 4 kids..3 daughters 6'2,5'11 and 5'5 and a son 6'3.....think it was the Paris water or maybe some water from the Red River.....
Think OU gives Texas a tough time...like the last 2 years...55-17 and 63-21...sidearm Colt will have a tough time moving the ball vs a good OU defense...and Texas has no offense...Ash is out and maybe there top scorer Davis could be suspended...Stoops hates Brown and vice-versa..they compete for the same recruits and half of Oklahoma's team are Texans..Texas defense is unreal...can't tackle,wide opens holes and any misdirection,broken assignments,etc,etc... you can't fix that this week after the Iowa St game...back later in the week with more....like these so far
