Oklahoma -13.5 over Texas *****
My Red River Story.....
The first time I ever saw the Red River was in 1972 ...my girlfriend I was dating was from Paris,Texas...I was a junior at North Texas State...went to her house for the weekend which she said was real close to Denton. It was about was about 100 miles away.{ I found out later when Texans say close it has a different meaning when New Yorkers say close} It took 2 hours and she was driving her brand new '71 Cutless Supreme Oldsmobile....going about 85 MPH...that's the fastest I have ever been in a car...

She told me we would cross the Red River and go into Oklahoma since Paris is only 10 miles from the border . I had never been in Oklahoma and thought that was great.The Red River separated the two states....it was a Friday evening and we got out on the Oklahoma side and walked around down by the River...the River wasn't red but its banks were red with red clay...but by the bridge there were hundreds of cars driving into Texas from the OK side...it was almost bumper to bumper...in the middle of nowhere hundreds of cars backed up...my girlfriend told me she forgot ..but on Friday and Saturday's people from Hugo,Oklahoma drive into Paris to buy beer... I thought maybe its the drinking age but that was not the case...beer in Oklahoma only has 3.2 alcohol in it..Texas beer 6.2..so everyone drives into Texas ,gets their beer and drives back...[hopefully that has changed in the past 30-40 years}
I was amazed and never knew Coors,Bud,etc had different beer contents.......
I made many more trips back to Paris over the next 2 or 3 years..in fact I ended up marrying this skinny tall Texan a few years later....and thank god for those Texas genes... I have 4 kids..3 daughters 6'2,5'11 and 5'5 and a son 6'3.....think it was the Paris water or maybe some water from the Red River.....

Think OU gives Texas a tough time...like the last 2 years...55-17 and 63-21...sidearm Colt will have a tough time moving the ball vs a good OU defense...and Texas has no offense...Ash is out and maybe there top scorer Davis could be suspended...Stoops hates Brown and vice-versa..they compete for the same recruits and half of Oklahoma's team are Texans..Texas defense is unreal...can't tackle, wide opens holes and any misdirection, broken assignments,etc,etc... you can't fix that this week after the Iowa St game...back later in the week with more....like these so far

Vir Tech -9 over Pitt
Texas AM -6 over Miss
Rice -3 over Tex SA
Baylor- 18 over Kansas St
ECU -10 over Tulane
Mid Tenn +5.5 over North Texas { wrong team favored}

last week
10-5 plus 12*'s
totals +27*'s

The Real Kicker Was....

The Real Kicker Was....

that Okla decided if you could Die for your country,

that by God you could Drink Beer...

eventually...

so they lowered their age to buy beer to 18,,,,

just like Louisiana....

so everyone in Okla opened a beer joint(that's really what they calledem) on every road into Ark, kan,etc...

so ... we would drive over on the country rd cruise and buy beer, and laugh bout the ball game and if the Razorbacks would beatanyteam from Texass in the old SWC....

....eventually the FEDS...tied Highway $$$to drinking age so we everyone raised their age to 21.

You wouldn't recognize Paris now...the old nice homes are abandoned, Campbell soup is really the only business rolling along...

... but the jucos still put out good players who did not qualify for the big schools...

and the cotton gin is gone, the cattle andhay business still pays the bills...

plus the Drill rigs help...LMAO

thanks for going to the Army home games and putting up with the wait...

....

remember , the best weather in texass is coming .... Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb,,,,
when it's not HOTTTTT

play Razorbacks +6

Rutgers +19.5 over Louisville **
Spent way to much time on this game to play it lightly...to many factors..Rutgers is 4-1 but let 2 passing teams score 52 and 52 vs them. Fresno and Smoo{ and Smoo isn't a passing team} Talk about a secondary getting lite up..Bridgewater is just licking his chops watching the game film..this is also RU 2nd straight road game.
Bridge is a super player...tons of yds,Td's,etc,etc..but he has played FIU,Kentucky and FIU...last yr with a broken wrist in the BE title game vs RU he won 20-17.Louie has 3 solid rb's and some good Wr's.Parker is their stud and I'm not sure if he is playing tonite..he is game breaker...Louie defense is solid with some quick and strong greyhounds..think maybe Coach Strong is laying a little low playing UK and Temple last week...Louie will end up 12-0 and not play in a BCS bowl..Rutgers is there toughest game for the BCS people to compare scores...so if they can run it up they will...
And with RU's 116th pass defense and ex-Longhorn Gilbert throwing 500 yds and 5 td's the "Nites" could be in for a long Knight...
RU has Nova at qb...he is like Eli Manning...on target and focused and then way off over throwing wide open wr's or under throwing..he is having a better year with 1700 yds,13 tds and only 4 ints..but he could have 4 in the 1st half tonite..all "nite" fans just hold their breath...RU is missing James their best rb who came out of nowhere but another star has emerged. But RU has the best WR in the conf in 6'6 Coleman...he is there game breaker and has been kinda quiet lately. He also has some solid wr help plus a good TE. If the OL protects Nova the Nites have some good weapons..
some key factors tonite.

Does Parker play? If anyone knows please update..
Can the RU offense keep up with Bridgewater and co...there is no question the Cards will score..
Can the RU secondary play better then they did vs Fresno and Smoo?
Last yr RU had this game won when the fumbled at the end and Louie scored with a banged up Bridgewater...
and most importantly ... Louie knowing this week is the 1st BCS stats that count try to blow Rutgers out of the state of Kentucky....
For a small play I'll take the +19.5 and think Nova and Coleman hook up and Louie wins 44-27...

Longhorn and Lunch pail..gl with OU..think they spank the Longhorns..
Cap..good luck with the "oregon" of Texas..go bears

Hedgehog..what OU-Texas game did the President of OU cancel school on monday after they whipped Texas and said something like " school closed due to inclement weather..its snowing touchdowns in Dallas":mj07:

Turksure...is beer really still like that..I can't believe that....why is that???
Thank's Jax
Heleanth....she was my college sweetheart...broke up with my 1st college sweetheart the night before I met my current sweetheart and future wife..i always tell her I caught her on a rebound.:mj07:

Nedp...in 3 weeks I'm headed south..can't wait for that Austin winter...haven't been to Paris in years but were going up to visit my wife's parents graves and some of her friends...my wifes father owned a propane place out on the loop..Campbell soup was one of his customers for back up propane in case the plant lost power..Kimberly Clark also..I remember the Dr Pepper plant too...we NY's never drank Dr Pepper..we were told it was carbonated prune juice...

North Texas beat Ball State at home - not a bad team - yet you think they should be dogs? I am off the wager for now - but thought that Middle Tennessee looked to be a lesser opponent. Just wondering what I am missing. Thanks - always like your write-ups.

Add Temple to Louie's teams they played..
Ivabign...need to take that back...I can see why NT is favored and the line now -6...but think MT will cover the 6...Ball St was up 21 pts and they really blew it more then North Texas winning it. But a win is a win and Ball St is 5-1...NT plays good at home and the last time MT was in Denton they were blown out 59-7...but last yr MT won at home 38-21 and with 9 off. starters back and 7 defenders think MT could win out right..Kilgore is an good qb,they have solid wr's and rb's and there defense has forced 17 turnovers..2nd in the nation...think NT qb adds to a few ..back tomr or sat am to explain..GL

Oklahoma -11 over Texas ****** **
Line has really dropped..wow..hate that because there is always that under lying question...but trap or no trap OU has a better offense and defense...they have handled Texas the past 2 yrs when Texas was better...if UT can win this game so much pressure off Mack, the program,etc....but Texas is doomed..they have TCU next,@WV,Ok St,TTech and @ Baylor...Longhorns will struggle in all those games...but Case McCoy cannot lead this team vs an OU defense...and who backs up him...they have Swoopes a frosh who their trying to protect as a red shirt...Browns 4 worst defeats at Texas comes in the hands of Stoops..make that 5 worst defeats...Bell and co. roll over UT big...

A tradition in this Red River game is the relay run...both schools send runners out from Norman and Austin with the game balls...to Dallas....The Sooner ball already arrived in Dallas....the Texas game ball got stuck in Waco....those crazy Bear fans...

Vir Tech -7.5 over Pitt **
Logan and co..to much defense...

Texas Am -6.5 over Miss ***
Bo at home...led lyr by 10 pts late in the game...most of its team back. just played two tough games vs Bama and Auburn...think that just woke up a rested Manziel and co....

Eastern Mich +7.5 over Army **
Last yr EMU won 38-28 with todays qb and rb's that gained over 577 yds...
Armys offense is hurting and Santiago their qb has a bad ankle...his back ups last week were both terrible...so bad that Army put in a 4th string Qb named ..number 8...the army radio announcers didn't know who he was..he wasn't listed on their score card..so for 2 series they were saying" number 8 goes back to pass...number 8 up the middle..after 2 series they found someone on the field to ask..who the F is no.8 ???? I can't make this sh..t up.:mj07:
The Army defense is really the biggest problem...they cannot stop 3rd downs..teams have converted 47% of 3rd downs...that is an unreal number...their punter has more kicks off the side of his foot then his foot..their leading def player has 2 ints..he leads the team. Bacon Armys best player on defense is out.....Both teams are bad .. Baggett has emerged as a big time rb...
This is a must win for Army..they cannot lose to a 1-4 team.if Army loses Ellison is gone...small play because this is a big time "must win".. I don't need a win..I just need a td win for Army.

Houston -9 over Memphis *****
Love the Coogs here...frosh O'Koren is the real deal..he has over 900 yds,10 td's and 1 int..he has a good rb in Jackson and 2 wr's nobody can catch in Greenbury and Spencer.. Coogs defense is a little suspect and Memphis did play UCF real tough last week...losing by 7....but Coogs have to much offense..

Rice -1 over UTSA *****
This line dropped..Owls have Ross coming back at RB...McHarque is a good qb..Soza is a dual threat for the Roadrunners but the Owls should win this by a few td's...

Mid Tenn +6.5 over North Texas ***
MT lost a close game to ECU who has a big time offense..MT's qb Kilgore has been in a slump but has 1,000 yds and 6 td's...also 8 ints...they have 2 good rb's in Parker and Whatley and some good wr's.. last week they went to a "dink and dunk passing offense vs ECU and almost beat them..think they do the same today.Defense has been a problem but they are 2nd in the nation in forcing turnovers..17...NT had Tulane beaten but...a blocked FG and a 52 yd td interception killed North Texas...NT has no run game. Byrd leads the team in yds with a whopping 186 total yds..think this game stays close despite NT plays good at home..Kilgore will nickel and dime the NT defense and parker should have a big game..

Mich -2.5 over Penn St **
Baylor -17 over Kansas St *****
I'm still drinking the cool aid...The Bears roll big today...blowout....home teams win this series..but Petty plays in 5th gear and so does Seatrunk who is trying to get some Heisman notice...

Best plays OU,Rice,Houston and Baylor...
