MINNESOTA TWINS -120 ? You will find few pitchers that have as severe a home/away split as Boston?s John Burkett. Burkett has a whopping 6.51 ERA on the road this season, to go along with a poor WHIP of 1.57. Compare this to his home ERA of 2.31 and home WHIP of 1.35. Also, Burkett has had little success vs. the Twins in recent years, posting a 5.40 ERA against them over the past 3 seasons. Burkett is 0-3 with an incredibly bad 12.27 ERA in his last 3 starts overall. Rick Reed has finally found the consistency that the Twins were looking for when they traded for him, as he has posted 5 Quality Starts in his last 6 starts. After struggling at home early in the year, Reed is now 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA and an amazing 0.77 WHIP in his last 3 home starts. He is coming off of one of his best starts of the season, a Complete Game 5-hit shutout vs. Baltimore. The Twins as a team are 5-1 in Reed?s last 6 starts.

Marty,

I wouldn't touch the Over in here. Amazingly, these teams have gone Under in the last 9 head-to-head meetings. Also, most of the current Red Sox haven't faced Reed, as he hasn't faced Boston since 1997. This is to the pitcher's advantage.

Good luck however you go.

Nice call, Eugene Michaels! I hope you don't mind, but I coattailed your pick and also took them -1 1/2 on the double with Anaheim -1 1/2. Thanks for all your great write-ups. Interesting and informative and much appreciated.

GL tomorrow.
