Hi Hawkeye-
Not much to add to hawki's analysis, but I'll toss a few thoughts out there anyway...
We said at the tailgate that if Iowa doesn't score at least 80 points the 1st two weeks its going to be a long season. Only reason Iowa did score 40+ Saturday was the turnovers and the depth Iowa had over Maine.
Concerned about the defensive front 4, though. Maine rushed for over 100 yards and that unit is supposed to be the strength of the Iowa team this season.
Also did not notice much of a difference between the two QBs. See both of them playing in next weeks' blowout of Fla International--a 1-A team that is probably weaker than Maine--and again, we won't learn much.
Iowa State on the 13th and then the 1st road game to Pitt the next week will give us a better idea of where this team stands.
hawki--
you weren't an Olive Ct tailgater, were you? We always get to IC early for games anyway, but we were surprised to see less traffic problems Saturday than normal. With those 600+ spaces for cars gone we figured it was going to be nuts getting into town, but it was very easy...
A truer test will be the Iowa State game when all the tickets will be used and many more people will be in town just to tailgate. We park south of Kinnick at a friends place so we always have a couple of spots reserved...
