Tulah,
I could understand your thoughts but I watch every snap every sunday. Zorn is a paper coach, he holds no water with the team. His play calling and attitude are that of a man that just doesn't understand this game. We hired him after he was the QB coach in Seattle. One they had Hasselbeck, do you really need to teach him and two the head coach was Holmgren that was the guy helping Farve grow so how much input did Zorn have in seattle. The problem is coaching because as head coach you have to over see the offense and defense, if you have a manager in business he gets fired if he never reaches any expectations. The defense is playing poorly because they are not aggressive, tell me one more team in the league that plays as soft in coverage as washington? Then to couple that with NO blitz you give QB all the time in the world to get the right look to the coverage and eat the skins up on big long drives.. as they have in each game this season. Zorn and Campbell are the same, they take no risks. Campbell would rather go for 19-23 for 189 yards but lose then throw 15-30 have 200 yards and a INT but moving his team through the air.
I thought the line was bad two years ago but they have made big strides there, every team allows pressure on the QB but campbell does not have the decision making ability to get the ball out quick or run. Hell even Brett Farve scrambles when the pocket braks down and he is 100 years old.
It comes down to leadership and the skins have none. From head coach to Defensive Co the players are not put in the right position to win. Add in Campbell and that turns bad leadership into bad production... there is a reason the receivers and running backs look like its a walk through out there. They have no faith in what they are doing.
A new coaching staff and a decent leader (look at Hill in SF) the skins offense would be three times more effective. You cannot blame the players when we have that type of talent underachieving at EVERY position on the field. Every player just does not forget how to play once the redskins get them.
Simple solution. Throw a ton of money at Shanny or Cowher or Gruden, given them GM power and let them put the players in the right place. Rex Ryan turned the jets defense into players over one off season, the right coach makes the team. Look at the best teams in the league, they all don't have the names the redskins do but the coaching makes them a contender. If you still don't believe me look at the names on Jax, Carolina, SF, NYJets, and a fist full of others... the redskins have opened the wallet and gotten a ton of defensieve talent (the D-line needs work) and they still are getting ripped apart by the Rams and Detroit??
Cheers
