It really is amazing those are all gone. Never would have thought Blockbuster especially, when they were so huge just 10 years ago. Power of technology and internet amazes me, and hard for older guys like me to keep up. Just got a Go-pro from my company as a side compensation in a sales promo. What am I going to do with it? Maybe send to Jack to wear all day so we can see a day in his life.

Who would have thought Al Gore inventing the internet would come to this? All these people he put out of work.

the shame about it is..

one of the factors in the demise of the Corps. is WalMart..

and the whole time the in store customer service is a joke..

but like I tell my wife and those others who complain while trying to find a salesperson or waitin' in line..

if ya complain about customer service at A WalMart..

YA CAME INTO THE WRONG BUILDING ..

IT'S BUILT AROUND THE FACT YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY LESS..

AND YES.......W A I T

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
not to mention Altschul's Department Store, Fine's Men Shop, Smith & Welton, and Rices Nachmans.....

yep, Walmart's business plan does not involve hiring (and paying for!) helpful and informed staff. Gotta go to Costco or local specialty store that is still surviving 'cause they offer what Walmart don't.

I say good riddance to those dead stores! I did spend lots of fine times in the huge Tower Records in Austin, and many a Border's Bookstore across the USA. But the retail world is overall better now, strong independent bookstores left and vastly better options online than ever before for buying media...

Walmart helped kill off Woolworth and Newberry's, and many folks mourned the passing....but there were some protests in your grandpa's day against J.J. Newberry and F.W. Woolworth, behemoth national chains that helped kill off the beloved local mom and pop general stores, by attracting low-income customers with irresistably cheaper prices and selection.

a familiar story that keeps recycling.

Who knows what's next? way more online shopping and home production of stuff with 3D printers? Anyway, our grandkids will probably be telling their kids fond memories of these huge Walmarts that used to populate the US landscape, but now mostly gone, helped killed off by.....

good stuff Terryray..

I remember when Sears and Roebuck along with JC Penny would slammed with moms and their kids shopping for school clothes right about now..

neither heeded the message from WalMart..

'Where America Shops."

If you don't find anything to do with the Go-Pro keep me in mind. Been thinking about one for our fishing and hunting trips.

BTW shot a 78 at "The Frog" last week, course is in beautiful shape. I will be off the week of Sept. 14th, let me know if you can hit'em!

Jeff, are you still up for something next week? I would love to come across town as well and play the Frog, or we can play my place, your choice. Let me know.

That's the thing. Here's the other thing:

Walmart is the place everyone secretly shops, while yelling to everyone ELSE, "You shouldn't shop at Walmart....they are ruining the country!"
