Early car trivia question from the Car Museum tour I took..

"If you notice, the very early cars had the drivers seat higher than the engine.....do you know why?"

Answer....."the very early cars had NO fuel pump, they were gravity fed." the gas tank was under the drivers seat.

Advanced trivia....."how did they get up steep hills?"

Answer at end of my day at Museum.

Really great Auto museum Downtown Reno, admission $8.00.

If you are expecting lots of Muscle car Shelbys, GTOs, Barracudas, 442s, AMXs, Camaros, this is NOT the museum for you.

This fascinating collection dwells on the history of cars from Day 1.

They are more or less in chronological order 1890's thru 1960's.

They span the globe in Variety and I would strongly recommend the tour.
Blacksmiths were among the first real auto mechanics.

Everything from Gull-wing Mercedes, to Auburn Roadsters to McClaren Racers is represented.

Many cars were shown in displays of their time frame....there was a Robin Blue 1954 Buick Skylark, sitting in a 1954 era mechanics garage, complete with all the diagnostic equipment of the time.

Chevrolet had a vehicle with a V-8 engine ---- in 1917.

Steam power, electric, jet....
classics-1936- Mercedes 500, Frank Sinatra's Ghia, Duesenberg,Edsels, Concept cars...

Its all here...figure 2 hours on your own, 3 hours on tour.

Run by very nice people....I tried to find a ball cap souvenir I liked, none tripped my trigger.....I saw one in a display cabinet while on tour, I mentioned it and the gift shop person fetched it and sold it to me, saying "Everything here is for sale, 'cept the cars"

Trivia Question answer

Advanced trivia....."how did they get up steep hills?"

They drove the vehicle backwards UP the hill.

Another early trivia...Early gasoline was sold at Drug Stores....

The end.....hope you enjoy.....if not, there is plenty of senseless fighting and bickering in FDCs ever ongoing interactive novellas..

Somewhere in Corn Country
I've been there twice and will make it a regular stop when in town. And that will be a few times as the national bowling tournament seems to be stuck on being in Reno every other year.
Second time I was there the volunteer working asked us where we were from. Told him Iowa; he said he was from Cedar Rapids originally and proceeded to give us a private tour.
If I may inquire-- why were you in Reno? Can't see any reason to go there unless it's for bowling or you have relatives living in the area.

Glad you asked, it was for a Greek Wedding.

My God-daughter married the son of a Greek Pastor whom she had met in Boston.

Was quite a service, the Church Pastor invited 4 of his Fellow
Priests, and the bride invited her Greek Church pastor from Tulsa who had married her parents years ago.

So they all took part in the service dressed in their various vestibules.
The six Greek Priests took turns reading and chanting for the hour service.

It really was pretty awe-inspiring to someone like myself that has never attended a Greek Wedding.

The post wedding reception was wine filled and I danced like
a happy half drunken Greek peasant with next to no rhythm.
