They literally call everything pass interference.

I haven't seen a "illegal" contact, which is usually the bail out for some contact

...and on national TV for all to see. AMazing that they couldn't meet the demands. THese refs are so overmatched with the speed of the game much less the frigging rules. John Fox is gonna need the blood pressure machine at half

These guys are doing the best they can... Yeah they aren't good, but they aren't trained... That fucking loser Goodell needs to pay the regular officals

I think we are all of the opinion that we couldn't give a flying fuck who pays them. This farce needs to be put to bed once for all.

I have actually agreed with the majority of things Goodell has done for the league but this is absolute horseshit and has ruined his reputation in my book.

As I have said before, the issue keeping the regular referees out is not money.

They are demanding a pension plan, which the no one gets anymore, and certainly not part-time employees.

The main issue is that the league wants to add more officials and be involved in the quality control of officials to the point of having input on which refs work. The union, of course, can't agree to this, because it could result in the "benching" of some of their oldest members. Too bad!!!

I think the commissioner needs to hold his ground. I agree the replacement officials suck, but so many of the regular refs suck, that I don't see enough of a difference to warrant the big hulabaloo. And making player safety an issue is just a union ploy to try to get sympathy for the regular refs. Not going to happen. I hope they never get back to work.

I would love to see the regular refs back, simply to stop hearing all this shit about the refs that is taking away from the season...

I honesrly don't notice much difference.....everyone just disects more and more now because that's what the media has done...

For all you replacement haters

Espn reported...

With replacement refs,

There has been on average 1 more penalty each game (minor)

Only 31% of plays have been reversed compared to 50 % and 41% the past 2 years

Nfl reports that more calls have been accuraltey made this year then the past 2 years when reviewing game films

However, the games have lasted 5 minutes longer due to the replacements taking longer....but it appears they have taken longer to assure they are getting more correct...

I have said before I don't have an issue with the new refs...they are learning...everyone has to learn as they go....not one of us started out as an expert in our profession....I say by week 8, they r just as fluent in the game as the regular refs....the media and the fans need to just drop all bias and watch....

Atlanta was a mess, yes....besides that game I haven't had much to make me think these new refs can't be succesful...they will get better....you think hoculi and co. Just fell into the league as savy veteran officials? Hell no, they struggled and learned the same way....and do we not remember the ed hoculi mess in the denver/sandiego game that directly cost a team a loss on a totally blown call.....can you imagine if these new refs did that...

I think we were all biased going into the year, and the replacement officials never had a chance for success.

Its like the substitute teacher issue, everyone goes crazy when the teacher is out, when in reality the subs are just as capable...

Sorry to type so much about a issue that I think is overblown....I am not helping the cause by discussing it in a contreversial way, but come on if noone woulda told the fans that the refs were replacements, they wouldn't of said shit besides the atlanta game...

I know I'm the minority here on this....but fuck it they will be fine...

I just think after a couple weeks that these guys will be fine and know much more what is expected...

I haven't noticed any difference except atlanta game...

"the bunker"
somebody needed to step up and fill the void left by the overly self-important regulars...these guys did...otherwise,no football....

that means that many, many other people lose money and work because of THESE selfish bastards.....and i don`t think they`d give a whit about the folks who would economically suffer if the replacements hadn`t stepped up in an economic environment is pretty shitty without an extra kick in the ass....

personally,i hope thety never come back...these refs will learn.....the regular refs aren`t superhuman..they had to learn ,too...

referees aren`t irreplaceable....that`s the lesson that should be learned...

how anybody could even discuss the issue without considering the economic havoc that would have taken place had the replacements not stepped up amazes me...

So many of the regular refs were incompetent. That is what Goodell wants to deal with. But again the union won't allow that. the incompetent refs need to be weeded out and replaced. Once the refs concede that and that they are not going to have a pension plan, they will be able to go back to work. I hope they never settle and I hope the union president is still around to take the credit when the regular refs never go back to work.
