This guy must be the asshole brother of Eric Cantor - both of them short US debt and voting against raising the debt limit.

This, if done in private business, would be a serious crime

And these two are the kind of slimy shit Republicans love.

Honestly, this is chump change compared to what Corzine did.

You guys ok with what Corzine did and the fact that he is not rotting in a jail cell?

Or what the international banks did with Libor.

You guys ok with that as well?

Personally, I think Mandel has a conflict of interest that needs to be addressed but his holdings of Treasuries does not amount to a hill of beans

No not at all. This story is about this guy trying to win a senate seat and outspending his opponent 12 to 1 with money that doesn't have to be accounted for. Where did this guy come from? You think he will owe the people who are pulling his strings with all this money against a very decent guy getting lambasted with attack ads each day? "You think" this is a conflict of interest? Fuk Corzine he should root in hell but this is about a guy who is on the cusp of winning a senate seat being pushed by guys who are the biggest pigs in our country.

Who is defending Corzine?

The issue at hand is holding positions in US debt while casting votes which affect your own pocket.

That should be absolutely illegal for elected officials.

It should be a capital offense. Sharpen up the guillotine.

As should taking bribes....aka campaign contributions....vacations, etc from lobbyists or corporations which have a financial interest in your vote.

Many elected officials place their investments in blind trusts. Some slimeballs do not.

Slime comes in more than one flavor - Republican, Democrat, independent.

I tend to agree, it's chump change, but don't be surprised how little it takes to bribe/influence someone.
