surgery sounds painful and horrible, and it does hurt, but people recover pretty fast from it. Sometimes, they leave the pin sticking out the front of the toe and put a little type of stopper on it so it doesn't poke or get caught on stuff :scared I've never seen one of those exposed pins in my life without having a sort of shooting chill go through my entire body. Really bothers me for some reason! :scared

Christmas break, sounds like a great time to take off work, recover, be with the kids while they are out of school, watch all the bowl games, and have this surgery done. I would definitely plan to take off a few weeks with sick time and coordinate the surgery around a good time to be off.
