restaurants st. louis - downtwn

looking for top suggestions. do not want to spend more than $100 per couple if possible. i have searched many links, but i am looking for some experiences from others. the last time we went was during football season and did not do much special dining. also, we stayed close to union station - so we did not eat downtown.

the wife is pregnant so the tab will be generated with out much alcohol - a glass of wine or 2 for me with dinner.

There is a place on the hill that my buddy and I ate at when we down at the final four. I think its called Giovani's? This is known as "Oprahs favorite Restaurant" fwtw!
For us two we spent $150 with a bottle of wine and some cocktails, so I think its do-able for you?
This place is small so I would get reservations way ahead. We enjoyed our food and just happen to drive by. When I called the restaurant, and told them we had jeans on after driving by, they said sure come on in. I was concerned about the large italian men in tuxes milling around outside, :mj07: The matre de laughed and said maybe we should make them look a little more casual :clap:
Anyways, that was the best meal we had when I was down there
