---and for those looking for stats from reputable source to discuss--

Projected Deficit

In the first independent analysis, the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office concluded that President Obama's budget would rack up massive deficits even after the economy recovers, forcing the nation to borrow nearly $9.3 trillion over the next decade.

Okay. I should read the whole thread before responding.

I do the same thing all the time.

Seems like Mitt Romney would be a fomidable foe this time around. With the economy and budget deficit front and center,it would seem that his performance as Gov of Mass would benefit him next year. From what I read, he took office with a huge budget deficit, only to leave office with a surplus. I would like to hear the opinions of this from some of the more politically inclined folks around here, particularly StevieD, since he lives in Mass.

In spite of what Dogs routinely claims, it wasn't the black vote that got Obama elected. Black voters predominantly vote Democrat anyway. It was the Hispanic vote and IMO, more importantly, it was YOUNG voters that came out to vote for Obama. And ironically, that is what could make him vulnerable in 2012. Young voters need a cause and they often come out to issue protest votes against the status quo. I don't see young voters coming out in the same numbers in 2012 to vote for an incumbent President.

So if Republicans can nominate a strong candidate, they could make it interesting but a "reasonable" candidate won't get it done.

Locally, the turnout amongst black voters was at an all time high.

It was a historic election, and the local black population was mobilized leading up to it and celebratory afterwards. So much so that 2 weeks later they 'forgot' to vote for a congressional runoff, so Replublican Joseph Cao was voted into congress from one of the more historically poor, black and democratic districts in the city. People were pissed, I laughed my ass off:mj07:

Predictably, Cao was one of the few GOP losses midterm. :sadwave:

Obama wins reelection easily.

Who are the Republicans going to run?

Say-dumb-rah who has an approval rating lower than a snakes belly?

Newt who has a looong history of moral turpitude?

Pawlenty who is about exciting as cold mashed potatoes?

Huckelberry, a Fox Newz whore who can barely preach to the choir?

Jindal who is a proven lying dumbass raghead?

Romney who is a cultist, greasy-haired Yankee liberal?

Obama gonna be yo' Mama for another four.

Bow down Skulnutz, bow down to your better...YOMAMABAMA

NOW all of a sudden, we have to quit spending NOW! :mj07: :mj07: :mj07: :mj07:

Maybe because the spending is soaring out of control. Just because we had a spiking deficit under Bush does not condone what Obama is doing by adding greatly to the freaking problem. We do not need bigger government. Somebody has to pay for the shit one day. Probably our children. Not funny

Romney was ok. But he is shady. For instance, he will take credit for shrinking the State payroll. But in reality he expanded it. By using some accounting tricks he did cut State Employees. But he replaced them with contract workers. So, it looked like he shrunk the payroll when it actually expanded. Does that make him worse than Obama? Don't forget Obama, like Nixon, was going to stop the wars. And as far as I can see all he has done is to continue whatever plan Bush was working. As a side note I am against putting a business man in charge. The Government is not a business and cannot be run like one. If you think about it is is actually the opposite of a business and I think we get in trouble trying to run it like a business.

Your chart is interesting. Take out the spikes for WWI and WWII, and who has caused the largest increases in debt? Those "fiscal conservatives" Ronnie Ray-gun and father and son Bush. Thank God we've got a Democrat in office to clean up W's mess just like Clinton had to clean up the Ray-gun/Bush mess.

Of course it will take Obama a few years to stop the Bush juggernaut, and the right-wingers need to stop their whining -

"Obama has been in office three whole days and he hasn't wiped out the debt, stopped the wars, made us energy independent, or cured cancer YET!!!"

As a percentage of GDP, we've had higher debt before, and paid it off while building a strong economy at the same time. We just let the rich pay their share.

If Obama didn't spend what he did we would be looking at close to 20 percent unemployment with the shit pile he was dealt.

Agree it is going to take time to stop the snowball started by Bush. Also, unemployment is a trailing indicator. We will not notice a change in unemployment until the recovery is well on it's way.
