Return opened video game to Costco?

probably not. I think most stores the game has to be unopened to get an even exchange for it.
i would just say it is defective and get another one (same copy). Then go back a few days later w/ the same copy (unopened) and then exchange it for what you want.

I am willing to bet they take it back..........no questions asked. Just say you didn't like it, that's all you need to say.
Ahh yes...a response from the person I was waiting to hear from. The guy who knows all things Costo-return-related, The Boys, aka Rockets, aka Mr. Bada Bing!

Next day, I tell my roommate and he tells me he was planning on returning it. He said he called Costco and they said they probably wouldn't take it back (wtf does that mean? probably?), so I'm on the hook for it. I told him to give me the receipt so I could haggle with them, but now he's saying he can't find it and that's why it was lying around for so long w/o his returning it. With no receipt and no packaging, I think I may be SOL. And I don't play video games

If you used a credit card to pay for it find your credit card statement as proof. If you paid cash Costco can look into their computer system and look it up. If that doesn't work find a manager and just tell the manager that you don't like the game, it wasn't the game you thought it was. Be nice and polite and humble. the bottom line is that they don't want to lose you as a customer. If that doesn't work put a raw onion in a handkerchief put it to your eyes and start crying...............that always works. :00hour
You knew it was going to happen, especially if you read about some of the abuses committed by commenters in my post about how incredible the former Costco return policy was. Well, Costco this week announced (Consumerist broke it, at least to me) that they were going to be adjusting the policy to a 90-day electronics returns policy on D24 categories (their categories) televisions, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPod/MP3 players, and cellular phones. This only applies to purchases made after the roll out date (explained below).

wtf, I think your friend is giving you a harder time than he should. If it was really that important to him the ****er would've been brought it back already.
