It really is quite stunning that this stuff is even being discussed. Has flag burning and gay marriage finally run its course?

It's these later comments that have Obama more peeved, not the original ones. Obama basically gave Wright the benefit of the doubt, but now Wright has blown that by confirming his lunacy and racial bias.

Don't see anything wrong with how Obama has handled this.

exactly

Wirght was having so much fun thinking he was getting laughs and just being entertaining.

Stick to the church dude, where they have to pay to hear that crap

He doesn't have a different position on the original remarks that started this, but he expressed that without slamming Wright personally - which I thought was the right way to handle it.

Now that Wright is in the spotlight, he took a couple personal jabs at Obama and then expanded on his race-baiting (hyphen?). It's these later comments that have Obama more peeved, not the original ones. Obama basically gave Wright the benefit of the doubt, but now Wright has blown that by confirming his lunacy and racial bias.

Don't see anything wrong with how Obama has handled this.

It would be interesting to see how McCain would deal with Hagee if Hagee began to steal the spotlight and talk more about how God struck New Orleans because it was a sinful city. At some point McCain would also have to stop making excuses for him and cut his ties with him.

Correct me if I'm wrong Smurph but is there any connection between this Hagee guy and McCain other than Hagee endorsing him--like Hamas endorsing Obama

On Wright--he was ranting bout being taken out of context with his buddy Moyer in interview then turns around twice and repeats same thing

Obama/wright time line associates with him for 20 years as friend "uncle" and mentor per Obama--nominates him to head of black committee--then shits starts to surface and he cuts wright from nomination speech--and in case anyone thinks all this wasn't thought about prior and O is "really surprised" as he says--lets go back to 2007--

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/06/us/politics/06obama.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

In Monday?s interview, Mr. Wright expressed disappointment but no surprise that Mr. Obama might try to play down their connection.

?When his enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli? to visit Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, Mr. Wright recalled, ?with Farrakhan, a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.? Mr. Wright added that his trip implied no endorsement of either Louis Farrakhan?s views or Qaddafi?s.

Mr. Wright said that in the phone conversation in which Mr. Obama disinvited him from a role in the announcement, Mr. Obama cited an article in Rolling Stone, ?The Radical Roots of Barack Obama.?

According to the pastor, Mr. Obama then told him, ?You can get kind of rough in the sermons, so what we?ve decided is that it?s best for you not to be out there in public.?

and now O wants us to believe he has just decided that wright is not the man he thought he was :0corn

Yeah, I think 'O' may have just now discovered that Wright isn't the man he thought he was. It happens.

As for Hamas, ......well, I don't base my vote on who they like or don't like. I vote for this country. Hope you do the same.

I hear you IO.......I am not nor do I ever even want to be debating the Nuttiness of Jeremiah (my new funk-soul fusion band!)......I agree BHO should begin to distance himself from these stances.

How? Fawk if I know. Probably doesn't even have to try. I sure don't see any of this as a favor to Hillary. Every time you tie the race card to this campaign, someone has to get the hell out of the picture. Its this year's third-rail. This kook can keep dancin' around the dais, spewing his bile, perpetuating his self-created characature.........this bizarre hybrid of Jesse/Al/Louie/WannaBe MLK....and we can call him militant, dangerous, paradoxically hurtful to his stated cause......and if its brought up, even in a legitamate fashion, then all you have to do is say "racist" and whoever said it just disappears. Fair? Probably not, but thats the game. Everybody knows it. BHO sure as hell knows, so the high road it is.......so silly, convoluted, and manipulative that it just has to true

3-14-08.........me:142smilie

I was wrong, wrong, wrong about this one. I completely underestimated the intentions of the 4th estate and how big a dick the Reverend could become. I would say that this should put it to rest but "fool me once, shame on you! Fool me twice, well, then, uhhh:mj03: :hah: :mj15: ".... you get it.

Enough with the primaries! Lets go to a brokered convention so I can watch either of these two dance circles around McCain a bit.

Um no. 3rd worst post ever on this site. Hussein has been attending Wright's congregation for over 2 decades. He talks glowingly about him in all of his books, has said all sorts of wonderful things about him in public, donated tens of thousands of dollars to his ministry, and calls him his spiritual advisor. Hussein knew what was going on all this time, and was a partner in the ideology that Wright has regarding his hatred towards America.

Period.

Hussein hates America in the same way Wright hates America.

They hate my country.

Period.

Trying now, to sweep this all under the rug, is futile and counterproductive. The whole world now understands that Hussein, brought up in the most populace Muslim nation on earth, hates America, and hates our way of life. If you think any sane person will read your post, smurph, and go, "Oh, I'll just forget all about this Wright business, coz smurph couldn't be bothered to indicate that Hussein knew all along what he was associated with, as evidenced by his minuscule post, now that the chickens have come home to roost."

People like me, who can see through thinly veiled disguises, were saying for months that Wright is essentially a jackass and a bigot, and hates America, but we were routinely made fun of. But now, we all know I was right, and Wright is wrong.

In the future, smurphy, try to give a little more credence to ideas that at first you don't agree with.

Thanks.

Prefacing this post with a disclaimer that I am not trying to bait anyone in the Catholic faith into anything...this was just a point made on a radio talk show this AM, and I think it has some credence, in some ways.

I wonder how many catholics who are openly critical of Obama for an ongoing relationship with Wright, and continuing to defend him until now, have not left their particular church when priests and bishops, etc., are found to have committed atrocities against children?

Now I know it's far from the same thing, and that's not the point. I think it's fair to say that most people who attend church have heard a few things they don't subscribe to, agree with, believe in, or even like.

I don't want to rehash this whole thing again, I guess I just had not thought about the Catholic priest angle until I heard it. And I'm certainly not looking to knock heads with people of the faith, or cause trouble. Just something to think about.

Peace.

People like you are the reason why this silly shit is brought up in the first place. A pigeon that easily gets plucked over and over again. This kind of stuff that stokes the fires of stupidity. Have a wonderfful day.

LINKS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN

Just stop. Please you look bad. The Dems have been in control of congress for a long time now, and Clinton was president 8 years ago. Most government officials are democrats, and Bush served in the military.

I don;t believe anything you say, and Hussein himself has admitted that Wright is a nut-job who no one should pay any attention to.

Your boy Smurphy even acknowledged that Wright is over the edge, and yet all you can do is smear people.

4th worst post ever on here.

I'm sure that in bizarro world ad hominem attacks are a sufficient replacement for civil discourse, but in my country, the grand ole US of A, that shit don't fly, son.

You are wrong, your ideas are wrong, the guy who you back, says you are wrong, yet all you can do is smear people. Time to grow up, admit you hitched your wagon to the wrong star, and believe that 300 million people in this country find it a non-trivial issue.

If you can't admit you are wrong, then there is no hope for you.

Wright is a known bigot, and hate-monger. Period. End of story. The guy you support in this race, just told you to ignore him, and understand he is a nutcase, yet all you can do put larger blinders on.

You, sir, are a prime example of why America hates leftists. Vitriol, venom, hate, lies, personal attacks, and anti-American ideology.

Hussein is done. Deal with it.

Something like that? Dude, you are so insanely hypocritcal, it ain't even remotely funny. To see you put the two words "civil discourse" together in the same sentence when you so regulary rip people around here, I think I might have to add your name to the Wiki-pedia entry for Oxymoronic.

OMG are you serious?? Each one of your posts over the last few days has been way off the thread topic, and not in good taste. You hurl epithets like frisbees at a Greatful Dead concert, and you have the gall to call me out??

Dude, you have issues, and it's obvious to me most of the self-described, but actually not even close, centrists have mental debilitations that keep them from interfacing with common decent civilization as a human being.

As a group, it's time for you guys to grow up.

You swerve threads so wildly off topic, I have to re-read 3-4 times to make sure I remember what the thread is even about.

Stop posting, and go seek mental health help. You won't make it far in this life with your mindset.

Tenzing, it was just reported on Fox News that Obama's barber of 35 years was sharpening his blades in his shop. Rumor has it he was doing this while looking out the window. A few ladies walked by and while sharpening his blades he smiled at them in what could have been considered a devious manner. Why don't you see if you can find out more about this disturbing news?

If Tenzing's goal was to raise the ire of some of the calmest posters in the political forum, then mission accomplished. Not something to be proud of.:nono:

Got to be some kind of joke at this point. He's obviously just seeing how far he can go and what responses he can get.
