Davidson is a classic bubble team, floating around the middle of the atlantic 10 conference with a respectable 16-9 record, but no real statement wins that would help them with the committee. they do feature one of the country's premier players in jack gibbs, who currently sits around 2nd or 3rd in the national scoring race with 25.3 ppg. coach mckillop has them making a February push to gain attention, and tonight they get a chance to add to their record and tune up before next week's make or break games against vcu and gwu. the rams are the right team for the wildcats tonight - they're 1-5 s/u , 2-4 ats last 6, and it's because their d has taken a vacation. they've allowed their last 3 opponents to shoot over 50% from the floor (one was duquesne for god's sake). those same 3 opponents from the arc: 38.1%, 37.5%. 40.0%. meanwhile, Davidson has won 4 of their last 5, shooting 41.3% from the 3 point line in those games. wildcats last 3 home games from the arc: 47.6%, 42.3%, 50.0%. they're 13-1 in belk arena, only loss back in January to a10 heavyweight vcu. tonight the school's doing everything it can for student support, from "black out" night to free tshirts, free rally towels and free food for a year for one lucky student from a local southwest grill. coach mckillop's a veteran, 27 years at the same school. he'll have his troops ready. Davidson -3 is the play (lean to the over). heads up on the 6pm start.

I am going with Davidson -3 also. Already getting killed from my fellow Rhode Islanders about my pick. I am staying away from the over.

yeah joe i'm not on the 80% consensus side very often but it' hard to see this game any other way. mckillop has always been a great february coach in terms of peaking, and the 'cats need a big february to get in the big dance conversation, like maybe winning out. the rams seem so shorthanded that they are wearing down late in the season.

with the line movement on the total, i never did pull the trigger.

URI has failed to cover all 4 times this season when they've been a road dog of 3 or less (1-6 ATS in L7). They opened +3 at DAV today.
