Maiden Special

5.5 furlongs on the Turf.

Purse: $73,000

#2 LADY'S FIRST (ML=3/1) Finished 2nd

LADY'S FIRST - Have to give this filly a shot. Ran a sharp outing last time out within the last month. I have to figure that today's shorter trip should help this filly. The thoroughbred with the top average class rating in turf events is usually a solid play. This thoroughbred fits the bill. This filly recorded a strong speed fig of 85 in her last event. That speed fig should be strong enough to triumph this time. Based on her last TrackMaster turf figure alone, I'm going to play this horse

#1 MR. JENNEY (ML=3/1)

MR. JENNEY - Have to give this gelding a fair chance. Ran a good effort last out within the last month. This deep stretch runner should have a big impact on this race. Expect a solid closing kick. Has a pretty good opportunity to break maiden changing to the dirt in this race

#4 RINGNECKDOVE (ML=7/2) Finished 2nd

RINGNECKDOVE - Likes to go to the head of the pack and the fact that today is a shorter trip should help. Add to that the field is rather weak. This horse has a good chance to end up in the winners circle.

BACKSTAGE - Trainer Laurin moves this one down the ladder based on class rating points to face weaker company. Look for a good race in here. Stick with this pony. Coming off the pace, I think she'll be in a terrific spot to crush them in the stretch. Is ranked number one in earnings per race. A dominant try right here can increase that bankroll!

I am on this horse very hard.

#3 STREET FIGHTIN MAN (ML=8/1) Ran out of the Money
#9 BAPU (ML=12/1)
#6 DISCO JOEY (ML=20/1)

STREET FIGHTIN MAN - Comparing how the horses in this field have fared under similar conditions, I see this horse has the highest Equibase speed figure for the dist/surf. BAPU - This gelding should give a strong account of himself in today's race. DISCO JOEY - The morning line odds on this gelding are higher than those of the other entrant from the shedrow of handler Brown. Often the longer-priced part of a 'split' entry wins.

Got burned yesterday but going for it again, today.

Track: Parx Racing - Philadelphia Park
Race: 8/9/2016 - Race 8

Tweaked "the system." Hope it leads to more wins. Been a little "dry" around here, lately.

Tuesday's 8th race race (4:04pm ET) from Parx is a Starter Allowance event for fillies and mares traveling a mile and seventy yards on the turf course.

#4 Luckystrikedelcoco
(7-2) scored the last two times she raced over this turf course including an easy prominent throughout victory last fall under today's rider Paco Lopez (2-for-3 with Derek Ryan recently). She went for the hat trick at Suffolk last time but settled for the show at 8-1.

Won

Old Time Hockey shoots for dirt hat trick in Birdstone

Track: Saratoga
Race 9

Wednesday's 9th race (5:40pm ET) from Saratoga is the $100,000 Birdstone Stakes for 3-year-olds and up traveling fourteen furlongs on the main track.

#1 Old Time Hockey
(3-1) romped the last two times he raced on dirt (off the turf) and looks like the one to catch from the rail under Santana. Contessa may have claimed him with this race in mind.

Out of Patience should sit patient trip under Elliott

Track: Del Mar

Race: 8/11/2016 - Race 5

#5 Out of Patience (4-1) got no pace help in a rallying show finish in a Santa Anita dirt sprint July 3 and Miller (24% first after claim) nabbed him for $25,000 that day. The 2-time turf winner is enjoying a productive campaign (10-4-0-3) and will probably try to strike from midpack under Elliott.

#6 Rye (5-2) scored for me (blinkers on) on opening day and the late runner gets pace to chase in the paper race. The improving 3-year-old should be heard from late under Bejarano.

#8 Back to Bako (4-1) earned a decent number from post 11 off a layoff in a local flat mile turf affair July 24. Low profile trainer Lopez gives Gonzalez a leg up and he will probably stalk from the outside.

#7 Chris and Dave (7-2) exits a nice turf win off the Pender claim and the sharp gelding is back in less than a week. Today's race shape should be similar to his Aug 5 win at a mile and a sixteenth.

#4 Thanksgiving Day (5-1) brings strong two turn dirt form to the table and profitable trainer Chew took him for $20k last time. He is 0-for-6 on turf.

THE PLAYS:

$10 to win #5 Out of Patience Scratched

$1 Trifecta 5-6/4-5-6-7-8/4-5-6-7-8 ($24)

Chief Lion can start new winning streak in Tale of the Cat

Track: Saratoga
Race 9

Friday's 9th race (5:40pm ET) from Saratoga is the $100,000 Tale of the Cat for for 3-year-olds and up dashing six furlongs on the main track.

#7 Chief Lion (7-2) earned strong triple digit numbers in his last four and had his 3-race win streak snapped in a show finish in the G2 Smile Sprint July 2. He has been showing speed in his recent starts but has the ability to sit and pounce so new pilot Jose Ortiz should have options. He handles fast or wet dirt (60% chance scattered thunderstorms). Win.

#4 The Truth Or Else (5-1) showed that he can be an effective late running sprinter in a nice six furlong win at Belmont (muddy track) July 17. There is plenty of pace in the paper race to set up his late charge.

#2 Stallwalkin' Dude (10-1) won this last year but his recent form is suspect. He figures to stalk the pace under Bravo and might be able to rebound 2nd off the shelf.

THE PLAYS:

$16 to win #7 Ran Second

$3 Exacta 2-4/7 ($6)

.50 cent Trifecta 7/2-4/ALL ($9)

Cyrus Alexander should offer wagering value in Longacres Mile

Track: Emerald Downs
Race 8

#7 Cyrus Alexander (6-1) attended the pace from the outside post and faded in the G3 Cornhusker July 2 and earned a good number winning the G3 Lone Star Park 'Cap May 30. Hollendorfer's $1.7 million purchase does some of his best work at this distance (6-2-2-1) and should be forwardly placed under hustling rider Arroyo.

THE PLAYS:

$16 to win #7 Ran 2nd

Daisy Cutter should move forward in Saratoga Dew

Track: Saratoga
Race 8

Monday's 8th race (5:02pm ET) from Saratoga is the $100,000 Saratoga Dew for NY-bred fillies and mares traveling a mile and an eighth on the main track.

#5 Daisy Cutter
(6-1) was probably out for the exercise in a one-turn mile event vs. open company off a 3+ month layoff July 13. She showed good two turn inner dirt form at the Big A earlier this year and I have to think Linda Rice had this race in mind for quite some time. Jose Ortiz is 4-for-9 with this barn recently and the price should be right.

THE PLAYS:

$16 to win #5 Ran Out of the Money

$2 Exacta 5/8-9-10 ($6)

Appealing Julia is fresh and ready to roll at Presque Isle

Race 6
Amount Bet: $30.00

Tuesday's 6th race (7:30pm ET) from Presque Isle is a $28,000 Allowance event for fillies and mares dashing six furlongs on the all-weather Tapeta surface.

#6 Appealing Julia (3-1) stalked, pounced, secured the lead in the lane, and ended up 3rd vs. this kind here June 2 and the winner returned to score again. The fresh filly drilled a Mountaineer bullet for this Aug 9 and should make her presence felt throughout at a speed friendly distance.

#5 Gracie's Way (5-2) owns competitive two turn numbers for the productive Gallardo/Capuano team. She looks like a solid threat if she handles this shorter trip.

I'M A LITTLE SHY - Stalking speed. My associates and I like this thoroughbred. O. T. BANDINI - After the contest aboard this animal on July 24th, the rider is going to 'know' the gelding much better. This gelding is in nice condition, having run a nice race on July 24th, finishing first.

Delaware Park - Race #1 - Post: 1:15pm - Claiming - 8.3 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 85

#4 LOGAN STREET (ML=9/2) Finished Out of the Money

LOGAN STREET - Ran in the last race against a high class rated field at Suffolk Downs. The move down the class ladder should suit him well. This jockey and conditioner's equines have been generating a profitable return on investment. This horse has increased his speed ratings from a fig of 64 to 73 to 86 in succession

Track: Saratoga

Race 9

Wednesday's 9th race (5:40pm ET) from Saratoga is the $100,000 Bolton Landing for 2-year-old fillies dashing five and one-half furlongs on the turf course (rail at 27 feet).

#7 Lull (5-2) was an easy wire-to-wire winner in her Belmont turf sprint bow and runner-up Asscher returned to graduate here Aug 14 (7f off the turf, 1st by 5.75 lengths) and 6th place finisher Balayage returned to win a Parx turf sprint as the favorite Aug 8. In addition, 4th place finisher She'slikethewind missed by a neck at Laurel Aug 14 and last place finisher Consulting was 2nd by a 1/2 length in a Laurel turf sprint Aug 5. My top choice clearly tackled some decent foes in her debut and Clement is a profitable 25% turf sprint trainer.

#1 Big City Dreamin (2-1) exits a romping Presque Isle win at this distance on synthetic and she goes from Wesley Ward to Chad Brown (6% turf sprint trainer, 31-race sample). Irad Ortiz is 11-for-26 with this barn at Saratoga this summer and she is an obvious pace factor from the inside post at low odds.

C C'S WILD FIRE - Using this jockey/trainer combination is a smart move. This horse is at the top in earnings per start. She looks good in today's event. Morris moves this filly to the main track today. Look for a pretty big improvement from the most recent race on the grass. That 66 fig this filly recorded in her last race tells me she's a main player this time out.
