Go Habs Go!!
One day, two mathematicians, Peter and Mark, meet each other in a cafe. They haven't had a chance to speak to each other since graduating from University 25 years ago.

After conversing for a couple of minutes, Peter asks Mark: "So do you have any kids?"

Mark answers: "Yes, I have three children."

"How old are they?", inquires Peter.

Mark answers: "If you want to find out their age, you will have to solve a riddle! Just like we use to do in the good old days!"

Mark goes on: "Here's your first hint: THE MULTIPLICATION OF THE AGE OF MY THREE CHILDREN EQUALS 36"

Peter takes out his pen and writes the hint on a piece of napkin.

After a few moments, Peter asks Mark to continue: "The second hint is, THE SUM OF THE AGE OF MY THREE CHILDREN EQUALS THE NUMBER OF WINDOWS IN THE BUILDING IN FRONT OF YOU" says Mark.

Peter looks at the building and tells Mark: "OK, I need another hint."

Marc replies: "THE ELDEST OF MY CHILDREN HAS BLUE EYES"

Peter replies: "Ahhhh! Now I know the age of your three children!"

WHAT IS THE AGE OF ALL THREE CHILDREN?

   :D

I agree with Mama saying he has twins, but I also think he has one that just come out of the oven.

I'll go with 6-6-1

i'm going with the even # for number of windows, although not sure what they are getting at with that one. *probably* the youngest being the twins, unless fraternal twins, both would have blue eyes, and for some reason it was specified the oldest

ANSWER TO THE RIDDLE (Do not read if you want to solve it on your own!!!)

1) There are 8 possibilities to get to 36...

1-1-36; 1-2-18; 1-3-12; 1-4-9; 1-6-6; 2-2-9; 2-3-6; 3-3-4

2) Logically, we don't know how many windows there are in the building in front of Peter... but we do know how to add...

If you add up all of the 8 possibilities, you will get the following additions: 38, 21, 16, 14, 13, 13, 11 and 10.

If you are Peter, sitting in front of the building, you know how many windows are in front of you... right? So, what brought him to ask Mark for that last hint...?

Well... he knows there are 13 windows in the building but he had a problem: there were two possible combinations that equalled 13! 1-6-6 and 2-2-9!

3) When Mark mentioned that his ELDEST had blue eyes, he now knew how old where his children: 2-2-9!

So his children are two 2 yr-old twins and his eldest child is 9 yrs old... with blue eyes!

I love this one! Anybody got any good riddles? :)

by the temperature of the bulbs?

That's gotta be a good answer. If he lets one warm up then before he goes up he turns it off and turns another on....he will be able to see which one is on and which one is off but hot.

As far as the hardware store, is the correct answer the letter "E" ?
