Cowboys fan here. Not defending Garrett as I think he should've been gone too. But getting rid of Ryan was the right move.

And I'm a guy who loved the hire two years ago. Loved his attitude.

But if I'm going to be brutally honest, he left a lot to be desired as a defensive coordinator. I can't fault him for our defensive struggles late in the year on account of all our injuries, but even early in the year the defenses were not well coached, we did not make good in game adjustments, we could not take away an opponents best option, etc. He also could not get his defenses to make QB's uncomfortable.

Best assett is his swagger. Players love playing for him.

Overrated as a coach because of his last name. Look at his defensive rankings with the Raiders, Browns, and Cowboys.

as a Saints fan i am pulling hard against this hire - the guy is definitely overrated and the Dallas D failed time and time again in big moments this year

every team suffers defensive injuries - good def coords deal with it and find a way to get it done

Honestly I think his time in dallas he coached well.

I think he just fell victim to the cowboys being the cowboys...its almost a mindset down there....lack killer instinct all over....starts with jerry jones....

Think ryan was the closest thing to getting them away from it, but just a bad spot to be for any coach....no coaches do well in dallas anymore...

The defense was not a well coached unit. There was always a lot of confusion, guys scrambling to get into position pre-snap, 12 men on the field penalties, blown coverages, etc.

Best head coach he had was Jimmy Johnson, not Parcells.

Jerry proved he wasn't interested in winning when he ran off a coach who built a bottom dweller into a dynasty.

Parcells was the second best coach, but in all honesty, he was a shell of himself by the time he got to Dallas. I actually believe he came only because of his divorce and a need for money. Not because he actually had the fuel/drive to coach anymore.

If it was there, then the game had passed him by. Because even with Parcells, we were getting outcoached most Sundays. Never forget Jon Kitna, after the horrid Lions beat us one year, going on a radio show and mocking how predictable we were on defense. And Parcells refusing to go out of his base 3-4 fronts even when teams spread us out, opting to have Ware cover slot receivers because "we don't let offenses dictate what we do on defense." :facepalm:

The Cowboys are doomed. I hate it. I wish I could quit them, but I can't. Been a fan too long.
