ROCKIES/GIANTS Under 7.5 -130 - This may seem a tad pricey for a total, but I just don?t see these teams scoring more than 6 runs tonight. Schmidt has quickly and quietly become one of the toughest right-handed pitchers in the National League. While his record is just 4-1, Schmidt sports a nifty 2.54 ERA with a sensational ratio of 0.94, and he is holding opposing betters to just a .190 bating average! He is also striking out more than 1 batter per inning, with 79 punch-outs in 71 innings. He was simply brilliant in 2 starts vs. Colorado last season, allowing a total of 1 run and 8 hits with 14 strikeouts in 15 innings. He will be facing a Rockies offense that has been non-existent in this series, as Colorado has scored a total of 3 runs in 3 games. A case can be made that Chacon?s numbers are even better than Schmidt?s, as he has a 3.36 ERA and a 1.19 ratio despite pitching half his games at Coors Field. Chacon simply loves pitching at Pac Bell Park, as he is a perfect 4 for 4 in Quality Starts here in his career, with a sparkling 1.00 ERA and 1.15 ratio in 27 innings. Finally, looking at the recent head-to-head series between these teams, the Under is an amazing 13-3-1 in the last 17 matchups, and the first 3 games of this series have averaged a COMBINED 5.00 runs per game!
