Growing up in Los Angeles during the riots was a life changing experience for a lot us. It was the tipping point of many injustices that seemed to be ignored by the diminishing White right winged politicians of that era, like was changing and the old guard needed to move on.
If that beating is not filmed, I am not sure whatever becomes of these social injustices.
King was the face of this revolt but in reality, it was the hispanics and blacks that endured a lot of unnecessary violence.
Think of NWA, 84 Olympics (the promise & unity), and Rodney King.
There's a few thousands Koreans that wish it was never filmed. They got screwed.
In the aftermath, that is.

Maybe you didn't understand my point but ALL immigrants were screwed before this incident.
Koreans business owners might of been a casualty of the riots but thats what was needed to change LAPD and life in Los Angeles. LAPD was corrupt and out of control, this incident changed the old guard.
The Koreans knew where they built their businesses was not safe, it was there choice. The people who grew up in inner city LA were not so lucky to choose.
How the fuck anybody relates the death of a 47 year old man to the riots in LA is beyond me. How anyone makes a fucking joke about the untimely death of someone's Brother, Son, Father is also beyond me.
Raymond, I don't know you but you are not beyond reproach. You immediately connect King to Obama simply because he is black yet you used to have an American flag as an avatar. Just because you are a poor speller doesn't make you stupid. Ignorance on display makes you stupid. Whether you like the President or not you should support our troops, go America. Where is all that patriotic bullshit now? You think Kings death is a joke yet I promise you he did more for public awareness and civil rights than you will ever contribute to even this forum.
The man was beaten damn near to death and the LAPD was guilty of violating his rights, period. In a true free nation with true patriots, e embrace equality and Civil Rights. Not so much ignorance though, maybe you should think about what you are attempting to spell out phonetically on here prior to opening the cheesesteak hole huh? Just a little friendly advice from your uncle Bingo

One of the most iconic and controversial television images of the violence was a scene of two Korean merchants firing pistols repeatedly at roving looters. The New York Times said, "that the image seemed to speak of race war, and of vigilantes taking the law into their own hands."[48] The merchants, jewelry store and gun shop owner Richard Park and his gun store manager, David Joo, were reacting to the shooting of Mr. Park's wife and her sister by looters who converged on the shopping centre where the shops were located.[48] "I want to make it clear that we didn't open fire first," said David Joo, manager of the gun shop. "At that time, four police cars were there. Somebody started to shoot at us. The L.A.P.D. ran away in half a second. I never saw such a fast escape. I was pretty disappointed." Carl Rhyu, a participant in the Koreans armed response, said, "If it was your own business and your own property, would you be willing to trust it to someone else? We are glad the National Guard is here. They're good backup. But when our shops were burning we called the police every five minutes; no response."[48]
