Texas Rangers left-hander Kenny Rogers will miss his scheduled start Sunday against the Seattle Mariners because of flu-like symptoms.

Texas manager Buck Showalter said there is a chance Rogers might be able to throw an inning or two out of the bullpen if needed on Sunday and will probably start next week during a three-game series against Kansas City.

``We think the worst is behind him, `` Showalter said.

Showalter said left-hander Ryan Snare or a minor leaguer are options to start Sunday.

Rogers, who returned to Texas as a free agent this past offseason after leaving the club in 2002, has been the club's most consistent starter with a 3-0 record and a 3.96 ERA.
