Have Chromecast and enjoy it. Will admit that 90% of my use of it is for MLB to watch out of market games. If you get the online mlb.tv subscription and Chromecast its cheaper than getting the MLB expanded package through DirecTV or cable. Plus the portability is nice but you get that with all of them. Wish they would get the NHL package signed up through Chromecast and then I would really be set.

I've heard Roku is the way to go. Haven't cut the cord yet because it looks like sports programming is lacking. Can college and pro foots and baskets, baseball, and golf be viewed with Roku or any of the others? If so, please advise. :0008

Chromecast you can link in your MLB or MLS packages and it also can do the Watch ESPN app.

I have all 3 of them

I have all 3 of them

While they basically all are very similar, I like the Fire the best because of the tie-in with Amazon Prime, Voice controls, and other nice features. I was a big fan of the Roku when it first came out. It has a lot of really nice features as well. I'm more of an Apple user and I find that Chromecast is a bit more geared towards PC users, but it has nice features as well. If I were to rate them, it would go like this:

1. Amazon Fire
2. Roku
3. Chromecast

This is just my opinion though. The Chromecast could very well appeal the most to you, it depends upon what you like. Same with the Roku. Really can't go wrong with any of the three. I know a decent amount about them (as I'm sure many others do here as well) so I'd be happy to answer any questions.

I'm curious why you think Chromecast is geared towards PC users as I use it heavily with an ipad.

A bit off topic, but I have the AppleTV too and while I liked it at first because it was jailbroken and I used it Navi-X I will say I probably like it the least out off all the devices I have. Navi-X just takes too long to buffer and it seems sort of old school (the AppleTV that is). I feel like they haven't done much to improve it over the years.

As for the Chromecast being more geared towards PC users, I definitely feel that way when I'm using it. It does have some cool features and capabilities though. This article addresses it well, but I think even more so the "feel" of it is geared towards PC users.

I have a chromecast, and I think it blows  If you are average with technology, but you are a good reader and can generally figure things out like me, these reasons should be applicable. I'm no computer whiz like many of you here.

1. Unless recently expanded, it doesn't work through enough platforms.

2. The screen "mirroring" of your computer is not easy and works poorly.

3. Think taking it on trips to use though the hotel/resort's wifi is a great idea? Well, it's not with the chromecast because devices like it are usually blocked. This has happened to me 3 out of the 3 times I have attempted to use it on the road, and that's with calling support for the chromecast and wifi.

I would like a device that plugs in like the chromecast but will easily mirror whatever I have streaming through my phone or computer. Do any of these other devices do that?

Prime streaming not available on android tablets. Was able to work it out on android phone though. No instant amazon app for android tablets that I could find. So look into compatibility with portable devices.

Above the Clouds....
I've had the Amazon Fire for 2 days now and I'm very happy with it. Hooked it up in 2 minutes and started watching.

It comes with over 200,000 shows and movies, over one million songs and a lot more. One nice thing is it's voice activated and very easy to use.

Watching "Justified" season 1 now.
