I've had the Amazon Fire for 2 days now and I'm very happy with it. Hooked it up in 2 minutes and started watching.

It comes with over 200,000 shows and movies, over one million songs and a lot more. One nice thing is it's voice activated and very easy to use.

Watching "Justified" season 1 now.

It's bad ass, and I think a prime membership is a no brainer as well. 2 day delivery, a ton of free movies, and so much other stuff as well.....

Much better than Netflix in my opinion....

So where does this thing stand compared with the above mentioned? I have no clue about any of these things.

We have Roku 3 and enjoy it alot. I haven't tried any of the other ones however I did do extensive research and it was down to the Roku 3 or Amazon Fire. Amazon Fire is not sold in Canada so Roku 3 it is :0008

IE, we have a dns service that's pretty cheap about $3.00 a month that blocks our geo location and we can get anything from the states including Amazon Prime, American Netflix etc. :toast:

What's that thing I posted above?

That's a home theatre personal computer or HTPC. It is powered by Android which is the opposite of iOS in terms of Android/iOS.

I have an older version however it isn't user friendly. Software development kits (SDK) and APK are used to update. If you were adding say, Kodi (xbmc rebranded) you would use the Android SDK/APK packages.

For stress free, a packaged Amazon Fire TV works well as you get all apps in one box. The box you are asking about is very customizable meaning I can have the same box and run a completely different application package than yours.

Everything listed in the illustrations hints to Kodi which runs sportsdevil, qchannel, icefilms, genesis, etc etc.

Let me know if you need help setting it up. 30 minutes and Amazon Fire has the same features at 79-99 bucks.

Also note, the box is only as good as the development that is supporting it. Android and Amazon Fire aren't going anywhere. iOS Apple TV 3 has been dropped of support. A couple Kodi updates and youre SOL where there is an interest in Android and Amazon.

personal opinion.

Hey Woodson...

You know anything about flirc.tv, picked up a dongle cheap at Amazon but thinking about returning it because I think it's only PC compatible....

Amazon had Fire TV on sale last week for $85. Don't know if they will run the special again but they gave me credit for the difference when I brought it to their attention.

Yep, they're real good about that. Few years back I bought a pair of timberlands from them and the price went down $30 and they gave me a credit.
