The Varsity is Atlanta. There is one in Athens, but THE Varsity is all about being an Atlanta eatery. Pretty good for its nostalgia, though.

Another Athens eatery that is a must is JBs BBQ. The guy that owns it is named James Bonds.
They opened my junior year, and I try EVERY bbq joint I can find. I had been going in there and eating at their three seat little bar (no alcohol) for about two months. One day, James was sitting down to eat alongside me and was telling me that I was his only white customer.
I had never noticed until that point!
At this point, though, he has built a nice business.
