Can't see how people can't like this guy

I agree, this movement by the anti-American far right, hides behind patriotism.. Blind patriotism gave us Vietnam & Iraq.... Blind patriotism gave us the patriot act.... Yes we want to defend America but we want to defend her like Americans. Our government is moving away from the ideas of our fathers, we are moving away from what distinguishes America from our enemies. From the beginning of this great Country, some have said to those that have stood up and questioned : If you don't love America leave. There have been great patriots that have stood alone and made this country what it is. That's patriotism. That's leadership. Think about some of the great leaders of our time. Their sanity was questioned, of course it was, their ideas were insane to those who would rather stay the course , to those that would rather obtain wealth and power, not in the private sector but on the back of the people they proclaim to serve. This movement not exclusive to the far right also has wings on the left. That's our problem, the core of our two parties is rotten but the system is stacked against anyone that would appose. We have elections dictated by media. A media that is owned by big corporations that own our government. The left and the right stand together against Americans. They pit us against each other with smoke screen issues like: abortion, stem cell ,school prayer, immigration and war. All the while they shift our wealth to the highest bidders, foreign and domestic. Americans need to forget about who they think can be elected, and start working and voting for who will be the voice for you. I'm talking about a verbal revolution. I'm talking about taking to anyone and everyone. I'm talking about having people thinking you are crazy because you think your vote can make a difference.. Is it not funny, that America has become a Country where more that 1/2 of us don't think our vote matters ? Is it not funny, that a great # of Americans will follow the lead of a media and not vote their conscience because that media says : the voice of your conscience is not electable ? Patriotism has nothing to do with what's going on in Washington today.. Patriotism has something to do with those of us who dare to fix it .....

He was on Russert yesterday and he's not as "nuts" as you might think. The Fascism he's talking about is when corporations give our personal info directly to snoops from the government under the guise of the foolish Patriot Act. Take that a couple of steps further and you have something like big brother, hence his warnings. He probably shouldn't call George Bush I a "bum" but but he really is a conservative and that is what confuses the Hannitys and Limbaughs as they are not conservatives.

Weasel: Hold on to your hat.....I'm getting ready to board the Ron Paul train. This "quote" (whether it is in fact Lewis or not) is worth basing an entire campaign on. Considering how anti-republican I am, backing Paul would be wild on the surface, but I'm really not as anti-Republican as I am anti-most-Republicans.

Actually, thats my preferred "politcal party" being an anti-republican.....or at least those republicans who have been running the show for the last decade or so......not sure how I feel about Ron Paul, but ours is the best government money can buy, and its not the people who buy it, but in most cases its the corporations and the groups and organizations that directly benefit the corporations. Its their government and, by extension, country now, not ours.

As a history major and someone who studied facsim quite a bit back in those days, I worry a lot about just where this country might be in another generation or two....then, I take a more critical look around us and I wonder if we're not there right now and we just cant see it yet.

Just my two cents.....now, back to the football thread.

yeah, me too. I for one love to see true conservatism being represented. I can see how it might shock modern day republicans. The truth of the matter is that any Bush backer who calls themselves a "conservative" is a laughable farce.

Sadly TP, I find myself in a similar quandry. I fu*king love this country and what it has stood for but lately I have begun to question the principles of our leaders. This lack of confidence in our leadership has been a very unsettling force in my life and I am at odds as to how I will deal with my disgust.

I need a little Ron Paul help here. Forget what he thinks of the current administration. You guys are talking like he's not cut from today's political world.

What does he stand for? Maybe the top 5 things that separate him from the other parties?

Hey IE.......

If you are still interested, go to YOUTUBE

There are a butt load of clips of him there. I spent half a day there checking them out. I am very anit-republican, but this guy makes a ton of sense and he actually speaks the truth, which will obviously be his downfall. Americans want to be lied to. How else can you explain electing Bush twice, or should I say once after he was given the first one.
