i agree with the "defensive struggle"....texas is going to face a very good defense...an underrated one for sure. usc is no stranger to very good offenses either. Texas hasnt faced many quality defenses. OSU for sure. i'm hard pressed to think of another.
on the flip side, usc is finally going to face a good defense after cakewalking through the pac-10. outside of maybe Cal, there isnt a really great defense usc saw....and Cal did a pretty good job against USC, at least comparatively.
i see the defensive edge with Texas, the offensive edge with USC, the coaching edge with USC and the special teams edge with Texas (as much as espn salivates over VTech's special teams, Texas has better numbers).
unless Leinart starts running the option, i like Texas' chances to slow down the USC run game and Texas has the DBs to slow the USC passing game.
unless USC's injuries continue, they will keep Vince in check. he wont be able to run at will. USC may lack all the key components on defense but they are very fast and tackle well.
If Texas is going to win, they will have to have VERY BIG games from their RBs corps. They will have to control TOP and keep the USC offense off the field. VY wont be able to do it himself.
I think we all can see both teams hitting 30-40 easily, but I think these 2 teams are going to run into defenses that they really havent seen this year. I dont think Texas will be hitting the 40 point mark like they have most of the year.
something around 34-24 USC.....
