Pineda has a road ERA over 5 on the road and KC batters hit much better at home than they do on road. I know Gee is not anything special but why is KC not favored here? They are hot team who appears to be playoff contender and Yankees are likely only a pretender. I don't know KC has short turnaround from last night in Boston. Is that the reason Yanks are favored on road in this spot?

Sharps are pounding Pineda and KC got home around 4:30 to 5 am so they might be tired. Also, Strahm can't pitch back-to-back games which really hurts KC's bullpen. They need innings from Gee and he typically can't go more than 5 to 6 innings. He is by far their weakest SP and Pineda has been fairly solid. However, Royals hit Pineda fairly well in NY earlier this season.

Royals have Herrera rested which is nice, but have to figure out their bridge in the rotation to get to Herrera.
