How come a receiver is ruled in bounds when he drags nothing but a toe but he's ruled out of bounds when his toe lands in bounds but his heel lands on the line. Does that make sense?

The toe was in and the heel of that same foot touched the end line before the second foot comes down. Had that been the second foot needed, it would of been good.

doesn't matter... i answered this in another thread. it's not illegal contact and once the receiver went out of bounds he couldn't be the first to touch the ball... :SIB

explained as can not be the first to touch the ball in flight or fumble..
:shrug: am not sure but I believe that is the correct ruling.

It was the play before the last play of the TB vs. NO game that made me think of it, but I've long been confused by the rule.

According to Mr. Rules Mike Pereira, it wasn't illegal contact, so Article 6 doesn't apply.

He's not talking about the play to end the game, he's talking about the pass before that where the receiver was out of bounds on the catch

thanks..
so it all comes down to a smart move by defender to push receiver out of bounds once the QB left the pocket for the scramble.
