Rules for the 5 run chase
This is a 4-game chase
Wait for a team to win a game by 5 runs or more.
Skip that teams next 2 games.
Bet against that team for up to the next 4 games.
If the team wins by 5 runs or more during the next 4 games, skip another 2 games.
The chase ends with a win or four losses.
Progressive bet to win one unit.
Notes:
Do not play interleague games
All series must finish before the All Star break.
Shut down for All Star break
All series must finish before September1
Shut down for the season September1. (This is when the team roster is expanded.)
Conflict with another team in a chase:
The team already in a chase takes priority and the opposing team moves back a game or more. If two teams are to begin a chase on the same day I won't play that day and will go against the winner the following game.
Each series (and we can have numerous series going on at any given time) can consist of up to 4 individual games (gm 1, gm 2, gm 3 & gm 4). We stop that series as soon as we get our first win.
Win rates for a 4-game chase in 2007 were:
283 wins and 10 losses +153.77 units
10 losses
Game 1 160 .54.6%
Game 2 74 ..79.8%
Game 3 35 ..91.8%
Game 4 14 ..96.5%
I had ten losses in the 2007 four-game chase. You MUST be prepared for this.
How much of a loss can you handle?
It is based on a percentage of your bankroll. Let's say losing a 4 game chase costs you 30 units. How much of a percentage of your bankroll do you want to lose? 75%? 50%? 25%? That's up to you. Let's say you are willing to risk 25% of your bankroll as an example:
Bankroll: $1200
Bankroll willing to lose on a busted chase: $300
Take 300 and divide that by 30 which is the avg. units lost on a busted chase and you get $10.00 per unit. To be on the conservative side, use 40 units as a benchmark. 300/40= $7.50 per unit.
Remember, sometimes there will be many (8-10) series going at the same time so you have to take this into consideration also.
You must risk enough units to at least recoup your losses. This might means you have to risk 20 or more units.
Stress
It?s not necessary to play a 4 game chase. As you can see above a two game chase will win almost 80% of the time so if you are more comfortable with that it?s an option to consider.
As they say in the investment community, past performance may not be indicative of future results so tread wisely.
