I am relocating to a little burg called Snow Camp, NC, pop. 5,500. I've gotten spoiled with cable and I'm not even sure they've heard of it there. I've been surfing the Innanet to try to find out the best choices and deals for tv and high-speed internet. I'm told that I will have to have two separate dishes on my house to support both.

I'm leaning toward Dish Network's All American 250 package and HughesNet internet service. Does anyone have experience with either? If you think Direct TV is better, please tell me why. The NFL Sunday package isn't something I'd be excited about and I like the idea of receiving the Sirius radio channels. Also, I'll probably opt for the HD/DVR receiver(s) since I plan to buy a new HD TV once we get settled in.

Please give me your opinions.

P.S. Jaek, I thought mine was a custom avatar but I see Drew using it.

sorry to hear that if it turns out to be true..

For what it is woth I have been w/DTV for 10 years..wouldn't change even if a competitor gave me the signal for free.

Thanks for doing the research for me. A representative at Direct TV advised me that HughesNet is the only high-speed internet that would be available to me (of their offerings). I seriously doubt that DSL service is there considering I saw a BellSouth switching station while I was looking at houses in that area. I think fiber optics are out of the question!

Do you (or anyone else) know anything about Blue Dish satellite internet service? I saw it on the site you provided and they state they serve my area but I was forced to use a phone number in the request and, since I haven't had a phone installed yet, I used my cell number. I can't be certain they weren't basing the offering on the area where my cell number originates which is a suburb of DC.

We had to kick the contract on the Snow Camp property. An excellent home inspector named Joe Ayscue from Graham saved us from making a BIG mistake! He was so dedicated and went back to the property 3 times to make sure he hadn't missed anything. Fortunately for us, the big rain came over the weekend and he was able to identify three leaks in the 4 y/o roof as well as some drainage problems inherent in the set up.

We'll still be looking in the area between Burlington and Asheboro, so wish us luck! We'll be neighbors yet! :)

I'm guessing there are starting to be so many foreclosures that they're letting the buyers pay for the inspections, then finding out the flaws. I'll be watching the listing to see if it changes. You know, higher price and "new roof and new gutters and downspouts" added to features!

Bart, it looks like we won't be neighbors afterall. We spent the entire day yesterday driving around Asheboro, Ramseur and even Winston-Salem and it was a bust! We finally found our new place this a.m. in Middlesex, east of Raleigh. Wish us luck on the inspection!

Just to add to the NC talk...I may be opening up my practice in Fuquay-Varina. I know that area is growing tremendously.

Good luck on your move VaNurse. But does that mean you have to change your name to NcNurse?

Hmmmm.... I hadn't thought of that. I'll probably just keep the VA. Afterall, I was born and raised here. VA will still always be home in my heart. Besides, I don't think PokerStars will let me change my name.
