HELL
This day and age its unheard of and not warranted at all, this behavior that is. Many of you know I played on full scholarship for basketball at the NAIA Division 1 level.

My point, and being 40 now, I can tell stories of similar or worse than this. It was a big thing back in the 80's and early 90's from our HS coach. Fear, and intimidation and verbal abuse.

Funny one for you, I was in 9th grade starting JV. We were in a scrimmage playing the varsity one practice and I didnt take a charge. Whistle blows, what the fuck is the matter with you son, are you a fucking pussy? We dont have pussies on this team, I bet you have no NUTS. Son, pull down your pants and show me your balls. Everyone backed away, and let me tell you I drop my pants and grabbed my cock and said here you go coach.

Now mind you, I am hung like a fucking horse, even the brothers envied me, so needless to say he never did that again. Provides many laughs around these parts to this day....

John Wooden would disagree with you....

I disagree with u but we are saying the same thing.......people did play under fear with wooden but that fear was of letting him down not fear of verbal or physical repurcussions.....every player respected him even if they didn't like them... Basketball at the collegiate and nba level now is a diluted product....it's all the look at me and me first attitude..,.its just a bad product and that's just my opinion...highlight reels are just dunks and posterizing defenders regardless I'd their team is getting drilled by 30....maybe I just didn't grow with the times but I've lost all interest in...no respect ...look at me attitude...can't relate to any of it

This guy was way out of line, no doubt......But is he really any different than a coach that runs his teams to death in practice for making mistakes? Has them sprint up and down the bleachers if they don't get back on D. Running full out and dive for lose balls heading for the wall?

Now every coach out there that raises his voice or pushes a player is going to be put under a microscope regarding his style....It's hard enough these days to get kids motovated enough to tie their shoes let alone play competitve sports....

Screw it, give everyone a 1st Place Trophy and due away with the practices & games........:0008

making your teams run sprints and pegging them in the head with basketballs cause you're angry is 2 different extremes. I dont think they are even comparable.

As I said "This guy was way out of line".......

But noone seems to care/say anything when kids are being run into the ground at practice for making mistakes, puking, shin splints, floor burns ect....These things happen everyday at practice and most turn a deaf ear....

Looking back at some of our practices growing up, given the choice of 5 gut busters and 10 mins of blecher drills....Please feel free to chuck a ball at me or call me a pussy.....If this was a football, many would be singing a different tune...:0008

I wonder how Bobby Knight practices were after a loss? you think he ever yelled and threw basketballs at his players or made them run? This guy was not out of line in my opinion, he was just motivating his players to win  Its been blown out of proportion by the PC police. So he called a player a fag or a pussy, big fucking deal

How would feel when someone knocks you out while trying to motivate you to put down your third double beef cheeseburger today? Put it down tubby or you're gonna get another one.

Yes agree with you on everything that you wrote, BDB....He had some kind of pyramid of accomplishments or something like that that he preached....Do you know what it was called ?

My dad always said if I had had any basketball talent at all and Bobby Knight would have wanted me that is where I would have went to college,,,When I was 18 I was like no way,,Now that I am an old man I think sometimes I wish I had ,,I know he was tough, but most all of his players loved him, with the exception of one transferee named Bird.

So Boomer and Carton reported this morning that Eric Murdock asked for $1,000,000 to not release the Mike Rice tapes. I haven?t seen it anywhere else, but Carton reported it as confirmed on the air just like 20 minutes ago. He also said there?s a possibility that Rutgers countered that offer with $200,000. He didn?t confirm anything regarding that. Just said the original demand was $1M, and somehow ended up at 200K. Whether that meant Rutgers countered with their own offer, or Murdock lowered his demands, he said he was unsure.

First thing?s first ? if Rutgers did in fact engage in blackmail talks, everyone is getting fired. Cuncel da Rutgers if they tried to pay their way out of this mess. Handling a head coach situation poorly is one thing. Paying dudes off in an illegal manner to hide transgressions is a whole ?nother story. Also, if they tried to counter that offer and pay hush money, it makes you think that they absolutely knew how much of a PR nightmare this would have been, which in turn makes it seem even stupider that they could get away with a 3 game suspension. Something doesn?t add up there. If you?re willing to drop 200 grand to make this go away, you should be smart enough to realize its serious enough of a situation to fire the coach when you?re not successful in making it disappear. I?d be really surprised if Rutgers made that counter offer.

Secondly, Eric Murdock is kind of a scumbag, huh? I mean regardless of what he did, Mike Rice is still a dickhead. But Eric Murdock is right there with him. Everyone praising him as some sort of ?whistleblower? bringing the truth to light for the benefit off all those kids. Fed up with the abuse the players faced. Yea yea yea. Give me a fucking break. Dude wanted cash money dollhairs. Even still, people are praising him:

How fucking stupid are people? Eric Murdock does not give one single fuck about the people of New Jersey. He didn?t do this out of the goodness of his heart. He wasn?t trying to do the right thing. He?s just a scumbag looking to extort money. The fact that he was trying to extort someone who is also an asshole doesn?t make him any better
