Mags, some excellent points you make about the NFL. I think that there is more than likely an epidemic there too, at least with some substances. And frankly, as fans, I don't think we really want to know about it. Ignorance is often bliss, and while many were looking for more reasons to attack baseball, no one wants to think of their darling NFL as tarnished. I think the next couple decades will hold a lot of rude awakenings in every sport, and fans should decide now where the stand on the fact that we've essentially been turning a blind eye, if not tacitly enabling/encouraging this behavior for years.
As for your point about Rodgers, I do disagree a bit. You say no one would have suspected Braun a few years ago just the way we view Rodgers as so innocent now. I'm not sure I but that. Like I said, Braun struck me as a weasel from day 1. I'm not saying it isn't a possibility, but Rodgers doesn't strike me as having those same personality quirks.
Back to Braun... a couple points:
-- He owes that sampler/runner he shit on an arm and a leg. No better than Lance in that sense.
-- While I don't specifically blame the MLB, this punishment is no more than a slap on the wrist. 2% of his career earnings, and he missed the rest of a year in which his team already out. Frankly, I don't think he gives two shits whether he plays or not this year. I'm sure he doesn't want to lose that money plus whatever endorsements, but this guy has a narcissistic personality (disorder?) - I honestly don't think he feels he owes a damn thing to the Brewers, their fans, his teammates, etc. etc.
-- I think he's been on something since square one. If/when all the info comes out, I think we'll find that he's a career user. Just a hunch.
-- He owes us (the public) a lot more than "As I've said before, I'm not perfect and have made some mistakes." No shit. P.S. - I'm not overly concerned about the strife all this has put on you and your family in recent weeks. You dig your own grave sometimes.
I'm sure I could rant some more, but the 7:00 games are starting. Just my two cents. "...Not feeling me? It costs you nothing. Pay me no mind."
