the goat today was clearly furyk (followed by stricker then davis love)

the hero for eurpoe was rose beating mickleson.....that half point was the difference (tiger wins his match if the result is still pending)......mickleson was ready to win the half point on 16 AND 17 and somehow rose stayed alive and then did it AGAIN on 18 (wouldnt say mickleson gagged as rose drained about 50 feet of puts on those 3 holes under pressure)

didnt really like stricker or furyk coming in as picks but the team was in position to win on sunday

as for love.......

REALLY didnt like two things
1) resting mickleson/bradley sat afternoon when they were 3-0 and heard mickleson say something about how they need to rest and people that play all 5 matches dont fare well in singles and not worth it to risk 2 points sun for 1 point sat......YET.....that was likely the difference as they didnt get a chance to end it on sat by playing together again (best us combo i've seen in a while) and then BOTH lost sunday anyway......so love pissed away 3 points

2) hated putting stricker AND tiger at the end of the matches today.....both put up goose eggs together (why did they play together 3 times is still beyond me) but why were they both there at the end....tiger, yes.....stricker....plug him in the middle of the lineup as opposed to having the pressure on him at the end.

would have preferred to see tiger and bradley/zach johnson/dufner as the final 2

on a side note

figures the largest gag job in ryder cup history would take place at wrigley field......err.....chicago....who fuking let the cubs play today?

Tiger and Stricker were bad.

I didn't watch them extensively when they were playing as pairs on Friday & Saturday, but the parts I did see, it seemed liked Tiger battling by himself with no help from Stricker. Does anyone know of the breakdown of how the guys faired individually within the pairs on the first 2 days? Would be interesting to see that split.

Tiger birdied FIVE holes on the backside BOTH Fri and Sat ... he got ZERO help from Stricker ... he ran into a buzz saw from Begium that made 8 birdies and an eagle on his own ball and still only lost 1 down!

The momentum changed in last match Sat when Poulter birdied the last 5 holes to win 1 up

Stricker and Furyk were the 2 biggest goats and gagged

Davis will go down as one of worst captains of all time :popcorn2

100% agree with all of it...

No doubt in my mind tiger wins his match if its still pending....

And as far as stricker, why the fuck love picked him is beyond me....I woulda called tebow outta the bullpen before stricker....fuck it I can gaurantee greg norman or arnie woulda been there at the drop of a hat....get stricker outta there....

If stricker is there next year I am not watching...

And I really like him...there is just better options..

I'm just glad no one slit their wrists with that selection. Yikes.

Raiders wasn't bad for my old man. They never had a chance and I had money on the broncos

Panthers hurt for my bro but once again had a wager on panthers...

Dolhpins, that's my team...don't wanna talk about it...

Usa....still love u

Stricker embarrassed himself today.

I feel bad for Strick because he was very good at one time. And he just clearly wasn't there all weekend. He almost looked mentally out of it. And I can tell you, because I've played many match play competitions in a league and what not, that if you aren't in it mentally, you will get embarrassed. It's amazing that when my mind is on something else, I literally can't make good contact. It's a very difficult sport. Strick should have never been in position to decide this thing. Put him in the middle or even beginning....JMHO

how the fuck do you need 4.5 points and lose .....fuckkin terrible...terrible....

I follow golf some, but never really watched or paid any attention to the Ryder Cup.

Put this in perspective for me, they needed 4.5 points out of how many possible on Sunday?

I keep hearing everyone talk about them blowing a huge lead, but 10-6 doesn't seem like much of a blowout IMO.

If they needed 4.5 out of 20 then, yea, even Greg Norman thinks they choked this one away. If it was 4.5 out of 10 matches then I guess I don't see it.

It was 12 matches on Sunday, and I felt the same way about the lead. I understand that history says it is almost insurmountable, but it sure didn't look that way to me.

Furyk really imploded on the last couple holes. Watching him line up those putts was sooooo painful.

Stricker proved to be a terrible captain's pick. As bad as he played on Sunday, he still had a chance to get 1/2 a point on 18.

Mickelson lost to a miracle finish. He was in position to win as long as he didn't do anything stupid or Rose didn't pull off a miracle.....well....shit happens.

Watson should be getting more heat than he has for Sunday. He got boat raced until the very end when it was too little too late.

As for putting Stricker and Woods at the rear, I think it was the right move. IT NEVER SHOULD HAVE MATTERED. Why put the guys that haven't won dick out there early to give Europe some early points and momentum? I don't think having Tiger as the anchor was a bad idea even if he was playing well. Either he doesn't matter or you have one of the best, most experienced pressure players in the world in a position to win it.

Absolutely. No way Love should have slotted Strick 2nd to last. Definitely feel for him. I bet this will stay with him.

HELL
The bottom line Furyk has done what he has all year, shit the bed late when pressure mounts. That is a sign of old age and mentally not being able to cope anymore and it has happened to the best of them.

Stricker was lost all weekend. Awful, he put Tiger in crazy spots all matches, like having to make birdies to carry the team or hit pressure packed shots. I am not sure I would have put them together on Saturday especially after losing both on Friday.

Phil's match was huge, and it was really no fault of his late, Rose just made a bomb on 17 and another big putt on 18.

We could go back all we want, I think the Ryder cup is a young mans game mindset wise, and I would have rather had Watney or Fowler or even Mahan. Its an energy thing and or having charisma, and neither Stricker or Furyk ever had it. Sure they were decent and steady players. Snedeker was awful too, losing badly to of all people Lawrie who sucks, perhaps he was to busy thinking of way to spend his Fed Ex fortune.

Sorry, I just cant see the Americans winning ever on foreign soil. They had the course set to a tee for them and still couldnt hold on. Great drama and TV though if you like golf.

Sned had just won 11.4 million the week prior. His head was not in the game, which is to be expected.

It should have been Van Pelt, Watney, Fowler, Mahan. These captains can't seem to turn their back on their old cronies and always give them one last chance. We see how that worked out.

I love Furyk, and Stricker but they were brutal and it wasn't that unexpected. Any captain that plays Woods in alternate shot ever again should have his head examined. Let him play his own ball and that's it. Could you imagine Tiger letting loose with a Keegan Bradley like Mickelson did? Yea, me neither!

Stricker was there because Tiger wanted him there. He's not on the team if there isn't some past glory that Woods and Stricker had how many years ago. The hardest part is probably finding someone to pair with Woods, and Stricker is it. Look where that got them....As for his other Captain's Picks, DJ made a good showing of himself, and if anyone was left out who I felt should have been included, it was Hunter Mahan.

I suppose my biggest problem with Love is that he seemed like he was afraid to piss anybody off and it appeared he had the pairings decided well in advance (says he wanted guys to be comfortable and play with "friends") and would not stray from them even when it became obvious who was struggling to carry their weight.

In the end, it came down to the fact that the players couldn't get it done in the clutch. Bradley gets beat by the best player in the world and Mickelson just plain got robbed by Rose down the stretch. I thought they both played well in defeat. But I'm not sure why Love put so much faith in Bubba Watson. After the Friday afternoon match with Simpson he was all noise and not much substance and Donald schooled him on Sunday.

That was awesome TV regardless. :toast:

On a separate note, I was left shaking my head after seeing the next two host sites in the United States - 2016 at Hazeltine in MN and 2020 at Whistling Straits in WI. A couple questions: What are the chances the weather could be shitty at best in late September in these places, and wouldn't that play more in favour of the Euros? :look:

 I like golf, but I have never liked the Ryder Cup.

The above stupid quote would explain why you like that fuckhead Nick Diaz.

Even if you hate golf you might actually watch the Ryder Cup.

Man what a dumb ass quote by 6/5:facepalm:

it may not seem like a huge lead....some people may argue it isnt...

but there is no way in hell that lead should be blown....ever....only has happened one time really ever before...that tells ya how hard it is to do....

rose golfed out of his ass to get his point, and I commend him greatly...

I have no bitches about it all...they outplayed us...

rose was amazing...

fuyrk and stricker didnt help....nor did tiger for the most part....

stricker sohuldnt of been there...i feel for him and his family....gotta be painful...he is a really nice guy in real life from what I read.....love shouldnt of chose him...

I used to root for davis love morethen any golfer....still like em.....but he made some poor decisons IMO...

stricker should not of beeen the anchor....no way...yea i agree it shouldnt of mattered, but it did....and in that situation, you have to have someone who has played well all weekend....

I dunno just my opinion, but a lead like that is HUGE in that format....you need 4 golfers out of 12 matches to win, and 1 to tie....or fuck have 9 tie....

it sounds worse to me like this:

the european boys needed to win 8 matches out of 12 to win....8 out of 12...when USA has their absolute "best golfers" out there.....to be able to say we are champs for a year....i dunno seems like a lot needs to go wrong for us to lose...and it did...

after looking at it thru rested eyes this morning, ya it still sucks, but oh well, always next year...majority of the guys from the european squad are nice guys so fuck it.....

i love phil, so hated seeing rose drain fuckin 50 fters to beat em.....was a helluva run by rose though...
