WHAT TO WATCH

1. Because of injuries, UNLV's frontcourt is short, but so is South Alabama's. So this should be a good matchup from that standpoint for the Rebels, but they need to be more aggressive than they were in Friday's exhibition against New Mexico Highlands. UNLV was outrebounded 53-46, and Menzies emphasized that part of the game this week in practice.

2. Menzies said he didn't know when forwards Dwayne Morgan (hip) and Cheickna Dembele (right heel) would return from injuries, but both players practiced Wednesday. There is a chance they could play, but Menzies was skeptical.

3. UNLV's Jones said the freshmen are nervous entering their first game, and the entire team could have some early jitters. How the Rebels respond early to their emotions could affect how the game plays out.
