yes they have played the better schedule, but this game is at Alabama and i beleive Alabama to have the better coaching and the better qb and running back. I think the defenses are close to even.

give me one thing that favors LSU. And this is not a slight to LSU for they do have a great team.

Good luck

I played lsu +4.5 for a single unit. I posted these thoughts last week..............

There are several common misconceptions about this matchup IMO. The following are advantages for lsu.

Point #1. Lsu has decided edge in qb. Both lsu qbs have played an won against staunch defenses, including bama, in the past. Mccarron has no experience in this environment. Best part is perception out there gives bama the edge at qb.

Point #2. Lsu has a bigger, more athletic and deeper dl and more depth in secondary. Bottom line, lsu rotates more defensive players than bama. Few realize this.

Point #3. No head coach has performed better with additional prep time, particularly in big games, than les miles. Again, perception is miles is a goofball and saban is god.

Point #4. Lsu has a great punter who has given them a huge field position boost this season. This will not be factored into game analysis by most.

Point #5. Lsu has a more diverse offense, and have proven effective with the read option, as well as in more conventional sets with lee. Again, most will look at ypp and ypg which are in favor of bama. Most give bama a huge offensive edge, but this fexibility gives lsu an edge in a single game scenario IMO

i complete;y wholeheartly disagree that LSU has the better qb. i will tale McCarron everyday of the week and twice on sunday over LSU's black or white qb.

Interesting, as a few of the posters on this board know, I have worked in the sports media for years now. Every scout or coach I have talked about this game, they all say that LSU has a clear advantage at QB. Just my 2 cents from some people who are on top of the game daily and do it for a living.

GL with your picks this week.

I don't have a clue how the games wil turn out Saturday, but I do thunk McCarron has not faced a defense like he is going to see Saturday.

Before Kentucky's game with Miss St I didn't think Ky would have a chance against Ole Miss, but if Joker will give that freshman a chance again, and if he can put up some numbers like he did against Miss St, then Ky has got a decent shot to win that game.

I realize I've pissed in your thread a little, but I do respect your opinion Guru...:toast:

If there's one guy that can change a team overnite it's the QB...just ask Tennessee, they can't catch a break.

Hey cruncher you have every right to espress your opinion/
question : Do you think Lee has faced a defense like it will saturday.? Do you think the other qb has?

Nobody has answer my first question so I will ask again . Where is LSU better than Alabama. Allot of you say qb which in my opinion they are not So i will say they are equal at qb. alabama defintley has the advantage at runing back. Lets say their defense is equal. What advantage would you give LSU?

As far as the KY, Mississippi game there will be no home field advantage for KY because it was half full against MSU. Mississippi has more talent and will be ready to play because they want to get this S.E.C. losing streak over with. They are tired of reading about it. Mississippi has lost 10 in a row in conference play with their last conference win being against KY.

You've got real valid points on both accounts Guru. No, Lee hasn't faced a defense like he will see Saturday (either). And I do believe Ole Miss is probably the better team, and like Ky tho, need the game real bad. Probably a lot of my bias coming out on both accounts. GL to you sir! If there's one advantage LSU has in this game I think it will be Jordan's ability to run the ball. That may be the only difference in the game. I can't wait, it should be a great one.

This is a small play for me.

As posted above I give lsu edge at qb. Lee and Jefferson faced bama last season. that d was in the same ballpark as this one IMO.

I give lsu edge in.........

diversity of offensive attack. bama has more to contend with schematically than lsu.

special teams. The punter and coverage teams have been a great aid to the defense.

depth on dl. They rotate 8 regularly and 10 play. All but 1 are soph and younger:lol:

cb. Lsu has 3 cbs playing better than Kirkpatrick. Lsu will have a shot to win if they can keep a safety in the box to help control bama ground game. Simon, Claiborne and mathieu are a huge key to the game IMO.

I love the 50 unit play

As for Bama-LSU

the clear advantage is the line of scrimmage. Have thought all year that Bama's OLine is their weakness this year. So far they haven't played anyone that has had the front 4/7 to test this weakness. LSU does. Travis Reier said on the radio this morning that Skeen and B Jones are not 100%, which could be very bad if so.

LSU's OLine is big and physical as are their RBs. I don't think Bama's front 3/7 have as much of an impact in this game on defense as LSU's.

I think Reuben Randall will need to have a big game for LSU to win. I think Odell Beckham is a wildcard for them also.

Just remember that last year USCe and LSU beat bama last year by playing physical at the line of scrimmage, lining up and running it straight at them. Then on defense stuffing the box and making QB beat them. TRich will not have the game in his hands like he has for most of this year. It will be up to how McTat does when he is pressured

Definitely don't see how anyone can get enough of a read on this game to make is a large play. That is silly in my humble opinion.

Morgan Newton was "very limited" in practice today. Maxwell Smith took all the 1st team reps.

Newton was held out of practice again today. It looks like Maxwell will get his first 1st start against Ole Miss. I expect Joker to announce this tomorrow afternoon....I'll keep you posted.

THANKS CAPTAIN , is MAXWELL A TRUE FRESHMAN OR REDSHIRT?

Originally signed with Kentucky in the spring of 2010 ... UK's signing class was full, so he agreed to grayshirt ... Enrolled at UK in January and participated in spring practice.

He hasn't played great this year completing 33 out 52 passes with 2 int and 0 TDs. However, he did get in a groove last week completing 26/33 passes for 174 yards. In my opinion, he gives UK a better shot at scoring points, something we haven't been able to do all season.
