The improving Sabres as an underdog at home to the Boston Bruins are a strong play for tonight. Buffalo had an impressive preseason and followed that up with a 6 - 4 victory over the NY Islanders on opening night. Now the Sabres look to continue their solid play against a divisional rival.

The Sabres are blessed with good depth at their forward positions, a stable of reliable, puck-moving defensemen and strong goaltending. Buffalo is a team that was completely forgotten in the offseason. They made very few personnel moves and those they did make didn?t cause a lot of excitement. However, the Sabres are legitimate candidates for the playoffs this year.

The Bruins took a much different approach to the new season. Boston added 6 new regulars to their lineup, attempting to reshape the roster. The ?new look? Bruins are bound to take some time to develop the chemistry needed to go into a divisional opponents rink and win. Boston looked decent against a mediocre Canadians team on opening night, but couldn?t solve Jose Theodore more than once. To make matters worse, the Bruins are currently without #2 defensemen Nick Boynton (unsigned) and 2nd line center, Alexei Zhamnov (injured).

The Sabres are bound to get the Bruins best effort, as Boston will not want to start season 0 - 2 against the division. However, Buffalo will approach this game with a lot of confidence and an excited crowd behind them. Look for the Sabres to win a tightly contested one goal game.

Take the Sabres +101 over the Bruins - $200 to win $202
