Still haven't replaced my Kelly, some day I will.

As long as he has a dog, he has a friend;

Boilermaker,

I, too, am sorry about the loss of your dog. This is strange, but I almost had to go through exactly what you did. I have a 13 year old Australian Shepherd mix, and she lost the use of her back legs Sunday night. She probably has arthritis in her back legs and hips because sometimes she gets really stiff and moving around is hard. But this time she couldn't move at all. Then to Monday morning, she still couldn't move.

I took her to the vet's Monday after work thinking the worse could be happening, but fortunately the shot of anti-inflamatory whatever they gave her worked and by last night (Tuesday) she was back to her old self. I guess it could happen again, and as she gets older it could always be more serious.

Happened to us on the same day and my dog and me were fortunate, but I wish your situation had turned out better. It's amazing how good of a friend a dog can be. Hang in there..........

Sorry to hear this. I have been there a few times. I have two german shepards and I am sure one day I will have the cross this bridge again as they are notorious for bad hips/legs later on in life. Not easy. My younger one is the best therapy on any given day. Good luck.

Hey BM: Are you doing OK today?? It's all right to think about Pete, just wondering if everything is OK with you and your family.

Had a Doberman put down and it truly sucked! He was almost 90 pounds and wouldn't hurt a flea but everyone in the neighborhood was scared to death of him. His rear legs gave out (which is common with Dobermans) and had to carry him out to go to the bathroom. Cried for weeks!!!!

Hang in there Bro! Think of all the GREAT times shared rather than the bad last week!!!!!
