I give a big rats about those WMD. If we dont find them does it mean there were none. Or did they get hauled away to other places to be used at later date on us. I Hope We Find Them. If not I would say our soldiers and us here at home could be in more danger then before. After all our main cause to go there was because of this threat to us. Saddam was second. They new Saddam could be handled at any time. If not they would not have waited for a 9/11 excuse. Pray we find them.

Sorry djv, but you lost me. seem like you are contradicting yourself. No WMD means we are in more danger than before? Saddam could be handled at any time-If not they would not have waited for a 9/11 excuse

Algezeera had big pic of Dean last night and his quote of Capture of Saddam wil not make U.S. safer place.
In just a few days
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=1&u=/ap/20031216/ap_on_re_mi_ea/us_iraq

Two things that amaze me.
parallels between their doctrine and many entities in U.S.
and something O'reily said when he was 1st captured, relating to the fact that you will see many that actually did not want to see Saddam captured. He said to watch their response and you decide their sentiment.

---and speaking of O'reilly I think he made blunder of grilling Kerry so hard last night. Don't see how any political figures including Bush will set foot in his non canned interviews. However interviews with Gephart and Liberman were quite cordial.
One thing you can bet is you won't find Dean come on show. He will avoid like the plauge as does Slick,Hiliary and Jesse.

Now I will admit to one fact about is U.S. being a safer place and I am serious about this. and while it may appear partisan it is not.
I do think if I was a terrorist it would make common sense to pull all stops to invoke disaster inside U.S. before elections in effort to twart Bushes chances. They do not want him reelcted under any circumstances.

They outta concentrate on the middle not reborn nazi's. Seems like a waste of time. Oh well, those candidates are horrible anyway with the possible exception of Howard.

Chanman It's simple to me. WMD is why we went to Iraq. That was number 1 reason. So if they really had them lets find them. Not finding them could be a bigger threat to U S. We need to give a rats ass to where they are.
Saddam was second or third to the orginal reason as to why we needed to go into Iraq. He never seemed to go away I guess we would always no where to find him.
And if Saddam was such a threat and just had to be taken down. We would not have waited for a 9/11 to happen. We would have done it long time ago. Way back to 90 or 91. But we did not.
Dont for get Saddam was one of our good old boys 1982 to 1991.
But our reason was those WMD's. We cannot say were any safer then before with out finding these.

djv- We know Saddam DID HAVE WMD. Maybe we cannot find them now for whatever reason, but they did have them and would have used them on U.S. if feasible. I leave it to more knowledgable ppl as to what our next moves are. I may not agree, but I am not gonna call Bush a liar, or say he knew about 9/11, etc.
Just seems you can't have it both ways and I know this. Bush#1 could have gone all the way to Iraq. Remember ppl filing lawsuits against him saying if their son gets killed its on his head, and We have them beat-Why go any further?, not to mention referring to him as the Wimp Factor-Bush#1 is a wimp, (WW2 Fighter Pilot?), and so and and so on. Americans love their SUV's and gas guzzling toys. The oil has to come from somewhere and it certanily isn't ANWAR. I would love to see the Auto makers on down come up w/environmentally friendly vehicles, policies, etc. I was in the service in the late 70's and remember that bicycles were the big fad to conserve energy, gas lines, no lights left on in an unattended room, etc. Wish it was that way now, but it isn't and complaining won't change anything. Not saying you are a complainer, but it'd be nice to see some good ideas. And yes my vehicles get at least 20mpg in the city.
Don't take this wrong djv- not putting you down at all. Just trying to learn. You've said ppl deserting the military should be shot after what you went thru in V. Nam, but you also talk about how wrong it is for US to be in Iraq when the homefront is a shambles...No matter what- and this is my prejudice coming out- I am glad those MOFO's seen Saddam for what he really is and F*CK YES_ It Ain't Over Yet. I respcet dissenting opinions, but right now I remember watching "The Untouchables" last night. As stupid as it seems I think Sean Connery said it best_"How bad do you wanna get him?" "If he pulls a knife, You pull a gun. If he puts one of your men in the hospital, You put one of his men in the Morgue. Thats the Chicago way."
P.S.- Think any other countries are wonderin what'll happen if they ignore/ mock the U.S.? :soapbox: Friends can disagree.
P.S.P.S.- don't know why any of the democatic candidates go on talk radio on tv. Only morons who listen to that sensationalized crap are guys like Dogs. No chance of gettin a vote from him. They outta concentrate on the middle not reborn nazi's. Classic Eddie:142smilie

DJV what you don't understand is why. Something to do with the UN, but I'm sure you already knew that.

BOTTOM LINE

Let's not tip toe around this. If you believe that the United States should not have initiated its military action against Iraq, then you believe that Saddam Hussein should have been left to do whatever it is he was doing as the Iraqi dictator. Simple linear logic. To say that you oppose the very action that deposed the dictator is to say that you would prefer that Saddam still be in power. Don't give me that "Yes, I'm glad that Saddam is out of power, but we shouldn't have done this" nonsense.

This is like telling a friend "Yes, I'm glad to see that that nasty little compound fracture of your left leg is healed, but I'm still really upset with you for going to a doctor." If you didn't want your friend to go to a doctor, then you didn't want your friend's leg to heal. If you didn't want the US to take military action against Saddam Hussein, then you didn't want him deposed. You wanted him to remain in power.

Oh ... and let's mention Howard Dean. He says that the capture of Saddam Hussein has not made America any safer. We now know for a certainty that Howard Dean is a fool. He has eliminated all doubt. Here is a man who wants to be the president of the United States who believes that America would be just as safe if Saddam were still free as it is with Saddam in custody. He may be a fine doctor ... don't know. But with that statement Howard Dean has proved himself to be spectacularly unprepared and incapable

Turf I never said anything about not ever going there. No where will you find I said that. I said go there with the right folks with us. Yes the U N would have been nice. But I rather it had been NATO. I also said dont try to put fear in the American People. With reason full of BS. Tell the God Dam truth from the start. If you realy wanted him more then anythig else say it don't duck it. But Dam we had our reasons for going there change by the month.
I also said were going no stopping Bush no matter the reason. I said that was wrong and we better have a good way out. So far at best were 50/50 on most this adventure. And I am pissed about the lies about nukes and he may have a way of getting them to the USA.
And lastly we never finished our first job. You know Mr Real Chit Bin baby. We pulled resourses from that battel to Iraq. That slowed us down looking for him. Lets not forget he is enemy Number 1.
As for why in 91 we did not finish that job. You say the U N. Don't buy that way out to easly. As you can see we don't pay attetion much to the U N.
We cut the old boy some slack. His membership in the good old boys club had not completely run out yet.
