had top 2 wisdom teeth extracted on Tuesday afternoon...weren't impacted or anything they were grown in perfectly fine but 1 had a cavity and he wanted to take them both out.

no pain at all afterwards and still no pain today. bleeding all but stopped the other day and is non existent pretty much today.

went to dentist this afternoon and he said they look fine.

i had planned on flying back to England this Saturday night, which is why I went today for him to check and see what they looked like.

he said if i absolutely have to go, I can, but personally if I was his son he'd tell me to wait a week. (incase of dry socket or getting dry socket from the clot blowing out from the pressure in a plane)

I looked online and found some contrasting opinions, mostly saying it is fine to fly.

Saturday will be 4 days since I had them removed. I wasnt put under or anything, just numbed with novacaine and he popped them out in about 30 seconds.

so, in your dental opinion, am I safe to fly? the only problem I have is what if I DO get dry socket, I have no idea how expensive that would be to treat in the UK....

Having been a expert consultant for saint for a long time I think I am in a position to answer this one.

DO NOT FAWKING GET ON A PLANE YET !

WAIT A FAWKING WEEK.

IF YOU GET A DRY SOCKET ON A AIRPLANE CAUSED BY CABIN PRESSURE THEY MAY HAVE TO TURN THE PLANE AROUND OR LAND EARLY .

THE BILL WOULD COST YOU ABOUT 200 K
SO REMEMBER YOU'RE AMERICAN EXPRESS CARD

NOT TO MENTION THAT IF YOU DO GET A DRY SOCKET YOU ARE GOING TO WISH YOU WERE FAWKING DEAD AND SO WILL THE PEOPLE AROUND YOU. IF YOU EVER HAVE HEARD A CRYING BABY ON A PLANE THAT DON'T STOP SCREAMING UNTIL THE PLANE LANDS, THAT WILL BE YOU MY FRIEND.

TIMES 10 TO THE nTH POWER .

FAMOUS LAST WORDS. ITS ONLY BEEN 4 DAYS BUT IT WAS SUCH EASY EXTRACTIONS.

hope that helps

how would the cabin pressure cause a dry socket?

why would the altitude/cabine pressure dislodge or dissolve the blood clot?

i have vicodin the dentist prescribed but havent taken any as i've not even needed tylenol because theres been no pain what so ever

seriously I would not do it yet. I just had three extractions about 3 months ago and experienced the dry socket.

By the time I was back in the chair I was ready to shoot some mofos.

So they land early or turn back. The police show up and ask you questions. How long has it been since you had the extractions ?

gulp - four days.

Police - and the dentist said you could fly without a problem

uhhh not exactly

Police - OK up against the wall and spread em son

the air pressure rises in the cabin as the plane goes up and then comes down . That why your ears pop on a plane.

Except this wont be your ears, it will be your bloodly clot coming out like a fawking missle.

you will feel like running for the last helicoptor out of Vietnam ....

Here are a few ppl that could help and what they will say.

Saint - go ahead and go you pussy little beech. Whats a open socket among friends. It will just make a fellow dentist money to treat you.

hedge - I really did get a ticket

Mr Poon - Not sure how to answer but I can ride my hobby horse around a few laps and think about it.

Wineguy - I am too drunk on wine right now to answer. Oh I just puked on the dinner table and passed out again.

BobbyBlueChip - cant wait until football season so I can post my 48 % again for 10 years

3pt arrow - I am in New Mexico and then Switzerland , and I got to stop by and fish with fatdaddycool. My wife really wants to. I dropped 10 dimes on a game of chance and won like almost a million. Vacation is going well my friends.

SixFive - If you need to be fed with a spoon or a change of diapers, I can fill that bill mister

i'm still not understanding why the clot is going to 'pop' due to cabin pressure....wouldnt all of your teeth pop out if this were the case?

i've read dozens of things online from dentists and people who have had their own experience and they've all said flying in a plane is not a risk factor for a dry socket.

my thinking is that if their were even a slight risk of getting dry socket due to flying, he'd say absolutely not. the fact that he said you can go if you absolutely have to leads me to believe that its just a precaution...

Low oxygen, low humidity (dry air), and low cabin pressure at high elevations have a dehydrating effect that concentrate the blood, making it sluggish. This effect is worsened when passengers consume alcohol, or do not adequately replenish fluids lost by dehydration. The body?s natural clot busters typically counter the tendency to clot in these situations; however, in the presence of known hypercoagulable risk factors such as the Factor V Leiden and the Prothrombin G20210 mutations (as well as obesity, smoking, and oral contraceptives) the risk of DFS could be further increased.
.......................................................

this kinda explains it scientifically

i am more worried that information is not that readily available.

PS - The DFS stands for Dry Fawking Socket

yeh and as you walked to your car the dentist and the staff were looking out the window laughing their asses off.

IF YOU ABSOULUTELY HAVE TO >>>

meaning in Doctor terms - yeh go ahead but dont say I didnt warn you dumb ass.

here is the big question I would ask myself

why do you absolutely have to go now. Why cant you wait a week ?

I always look for a line of periods before the post to determine the quality of the advice that is being given.

I didn't give an answer or advice, cockhole bc I don't know anything about dentistry. Sometimes shitty diapers are a fact of my job, but I think it's an honorable job, so fuk off. :0008

have to point out the obvious irony in that you are giving out the most advice on what airportis should do
