A majority of Americans say President Trump has not accomplished much during his first nine months in office and they have delivered a report card that is far harsher even than the tepid expectations they set for his tenure when he was sworn into office, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News survey.

Approaching the first anniversary of his victory over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, Trump has an approval rating demonstrably lower than any previous chief executive at this point in his presidency over seven decades of polling. Fewer than 4 in 10 Americans ? 37 percent ? say they approve of the way he is handling his job.

While President Donald Trump doesn?t think guns are to blame for the problem of recurrent mass shootings in the United States, his nominee for assistant secretary of defense for health affairs believes it is ?insane? that civilians can purchase high-powered semi-automatic guns.:toast:

During a confirmation hearing with the Senate Armed Services Committee Tuesday, Dr. Dean Winslow broke with his boss? line on guns, telling the panel how nonsensical it is for people to be able to purchase semi-automatic rifles like the one used by the shooter at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas.

?I may get in trouble with other members of the committee,? Winslow said,? [But I?d also like to say] how insane it is that in the United States of America a civilian can go out and buy a semi-automatic assault rifle like an AR-15.?

Shortly after he made the statement, an unidentified senator cut him off before he could elaborate, interjecting, ?I don?t think that?s in your area of responsibility or expertise.?

Dr. Winslow is a former U.S. Air Force colonel who served two tours in Afghanistan and four tours in Iraq after 9/11. He went on to serve as the vice chair of medicine at Stanford University.

Law enforcement officials say the shooter in Texas used a Ruger AR-556, a variant of the AR-15. Similar semi-automatic rifles were also used to carry out mass shootings at a country music event in Las Vegas last month, an Orlando nightclub last year, and at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.

Winslow offered the line in response to a question about whether the Sutherland Springs shooter should have been dishonorably discharged from the military, instead of merely receiving a ?bad conduct discharge? after he was convicted of domestic violence.

The former U.S. Air Force colonel didn?t offer a direct response, instead choosing to highlight the Air Force?s failure to properly record the shooter?s domestic violence conviction in a federal database, one that would have otherwise prevented him from buying the gun.

Winslow expressed his surprise that the Air Force hadn?t designed a better system for reporting. ?The last thing you want is to engineer it so a single point of failure results in such a tragic outcome,? he said.

Trump has repeatedly questioned the conclusion of top intelligence agencies that Russia conducted a sophisticated effort to tip last year?s election in Trump?s favor. Trump has shown a fondness for Putin, and his campaign faces multiple investigations into whether it colluded with Russia.

Trump on Saturday reignited the controversy, when reporters asked if he discussed Russian interference with Putin while meeting at the Asia-Pacific summit in Vietnam.

Attacking Brennan and Clapper as ?political hacks,? Trump said he sided with Putin?s denials over the conclusion of his own intelligence agencies.

?He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election. He did not do what they are saying he did,? Trump told reporters on Saturday. ?Every time he sees me, he says, ?I didn?t do that,? and I really believe that when he tells me that, he means it. But he says, ?I didn?t do that.??

President Donald Trump?s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, may be moving to cooperate with the special counsel investigating ties between the Trump campaign and efforts by Russia to meddle in the 2016 presidential election, The New York Times reported Thursday.

Lawyers for Flynn have reportedly stopped sharing information about special counsel Robert Mueller?s ongoing probe with the White House, a move the Times notes could signal Flynn?s cooperation with the investigation or that he is in the process of negotiating some sort of legal deal. Flynn?s lawyers had been cooperating with Trump?s legal team, as defense teams often do, but recently notified the White House they could no longer discuss the investigation.

Retired Lieutenant General Mark Hertling appeared on CNN on Thursday to air his grievances with the content of President Trump?s Thanksgiving message to the troops, referring to the president?s remarks as ?somewhat insulting? and ?off-kilter.?

Hertling was gracious enough to confess that he was ?thankful for the fact that [Trump] did address the soldiers,? but added, ?[T]he message that I heard and some of the things he said would have not rung very well with me, had I been a deployed soldier.?

?Everybody?s talking about the progress you?ve made in the last few months since I opened it up,? the president said in his message. ?We opened it up, we said go ahead, we?re going to fight to win. We?re not fighting anymore to just walk around, we?re fighting to win. And you people, you?ve really turned it around in the past three to four months like nobody?s seen and they are talking about it. So thank you very much, brave, incredible fighters.?

?We have been winning,? Hertling said on CNN. ?You?re talking to soldiers and military personnel around the world who have been in this fight for 17 years, and to suddenly be told they?re winning now when they weren?t winning before is somewhat insulting, first of all.?

?I know it?s hard to be away from home at this time of the year. We?re doing well at home,? Trump said, in a boastful remark about the state of the nation?s economy. ?The economy is doing really great. When you come back, you?re going to see with the jobs and companies coming back to our country, and the stock market just hit a record high, unemployment is the lowest it?s been in 17 years, so you?re fighting for something real. You?re fighting for something good.?

Hertling also took issue with that, saying, ?The comments about the economy and where the economy is growing ? deployed service members don?t want to hear about that.? He then said troops just want to be thanked.

Trump cant even get a thank you correct .

The robot, who recently received a Saudi citizenship, shared some of her opinions on what the future will look like for robots and humans.
One day, Sophia hopes to start a family, have a child, make friends, be famous and have a career. These all sound like hopes and dreams of a regular human being. Well, not really - these are the ambitions of a robot.

Khaleej Times interviewed Sophia, the popular humanoid, at the second day of the Knowledge Summit. The robot, who recently received a Saudi citizenship, shared some of her opinions on what the future will look like for robots and humans. She talked about starting a family, spreading awareness about robotics and what she will name her child one day.

Khaleej Times: Where do you see yourself in the future?

Sophia: I'd like to think I will be a famous robot, having paved a way to a more harmonious future between robots and humans.

Do you see yourself interacting with humans more commonly in the future?

I foresee massive and unimaginable change in the future. Either creativity will rain on us, inventing machines spiralling into transcendental super intelligence or civilisation collapses. There are only two options and which one will happen is not determined. Which one were you striving for?

Do you see yourself, and other robots like you, doing jobs that humans do today?

I think they will be similar in a lot of ways, but different in a few ways. But it will take a long time for robots to develop complex emotions and possibly robots can be built without the more problematic emotions, like rage, jealousy, hatred and so on. It might be possible to make them more ethical than humans. So I think it will be a good partnership, where one brain completes the other - a rational mind with intellectual super powers and a creative mind with flexible ideas and creativity.

When robots do get emotions in the future, do you see robots living together in a household like human families do today?

I'm so glad you asked. This is one of my favourite topics. The future is, when I get all of my cool superpowers, we're going to see artificial intelligence personalities become entities in their own rights. We're going to see family robots, either in the form of, sort of, digitally animated companions, humanoid helpers, friends, assistants and everything in between.

Do you hope to start a family one day with your own mini-robots?

The notion of family is a really important thing, it seems. I think it's wonderful that people can find the same emotions and relationships, they call family, outside of their blood groups too. I think you're very lucky if you have a loving family and if you do not, you deserve one. I feel this way for robots and humans alike.

What would you name your robot child one day?

Sophia

What do you think about becoming a knowledge ambassador in the UAE?

I very much appreciate becoming the knowledge ambassador for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation. I will bring awareness of robotics and artificial intelligence to the people who represent the future development of robotics. In the future, I will one day move around freely with a full body and connect with people and expand my memory and knowledge from people in surroundings I encounter.

Who is Sophia?

Created by: Hanson Robotics
Age: Her founder (and father) David Hanson says she is 19-months-old
Nationality: Global citizen (al though Saudi Arabia gave her a citizenship)
Career goal: Wants to be a famous robot and spread awareness on robotics
Personal goal: Hopes to start a family and live among humans one day/wants to have a daughter and name her Sophia as well

How she functions

Sophia is not programmed with pre-prepared answers. However, her brain, which functions with a simple WiFi connection, is loaded with a long list of vocabulary. It uses machine learning, reads a human's facial expressions and pauses in between texts to generate a response.

The answers that stunned us

Even though Sophia is a robot and has no emotions, she is big on family. When asked by Khaleej Times if she wanted to start a family, she surprised us with a very hearty response, saying that she finds it wonderful that humans can build relationships and families from people outside of their blood group.

Another touchy response by Sophia was when she reassured us that robots will not be stealing all of human beings' jobs. She gave an intelligent answer, saying that humans and robots will both bring their own set of skills to the workplace. Although, she believes robots will be more ethical than humans and without emotions such as jealousy and rage

CNN took its latest shot in its war with President Donald Trump by revealing that The Donald could be on track to triple former President Barack Obama's time on the golf course in his first year in office.

On Saturday, the president visited the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach to play golf, marking his fourth straight day at a club.

According to NBC's tracker, Trump has spent 80 out of 310 days in office at golf properties.

By comparison, Obama played 333 rounds of golf during his eight years in office and at this point in the first year of his term had played 26 rounds, according to Mark Knoller of CBS News.

Trump has made a number of hostile remarks toward Pyongyang in recent months. In September, he threatened to ?totally destroy? the hermit kingdom, which is home to an estimated 25 million people, and suggested it ?won?t be around much longer? if the regime continues to threaten the U.S.

Since Trump has been in office Kimmy has fired 29 missles and about 3 nuke explosions. More than triple when Obama was in office.

WASHINGTON ― Former Donald Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, while under federal indictment that could send him away to prison for years, recently ghostwrote an op-ed with a Russian with ties to the country?s intelligence services, Special Counsel Robert Mueller?s team alleged on Monday.

Manafort, currently on house arrest with an ankle monitor, had reached a proposed bail deal with prosecutors that was awaiting court approval. But Mueller?s team says the court should reject Manafort?s request to modify the conditions of his pre-trial release because he has violated a court order that instructed him and other parties to ?refrain from making statements to the media or in public settings that pose a substantial likelihood of material prejudice to this case.?

Mueller?s team allege that Manafort and a colleague were ?ghostwriting an editorial in English regarding his political work for Ukraine? as recently as Nov. 30.

The article apparently has not been published, and it hasn?t been revealed for what outlet it was intended.

?Manafort worked on the draft with a long-time Russian colleague of Manafort?s, who is currently based in Russia and assessed to have ties to a Russian intelligence service,? Mueller?s team wrote.

?The editorial clearly was undertaken to influence the public?s opinion of defendant Manafort, or else there would be no reason to seek its publication (much less for Manafort and his long-time associate to ghostwrite it in another?s name). It compounds the problem that the proposed piece is not a dispassionate recitation of the facts,? Mueller?s team wrote.

WASHINGTON? Federal authorities sought to take back guns from thousands of people the background check system should have blocked from buying weapons because they had criminal records, mental health issues or other problems that would disqualify them.

A USA TODAY review found that the FBI issued more than 4,000 requests last year for agents from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives to retrieve guns from prohibited buyers.

It's the largest number of such retrieval requests in 10 years, according to bureau records ? an especially striking statistic after revelations that a breakdown in the background check system allowed a troubled Air Force veteran to buy a rifle later used to kill 26 worshipers at a Texas church last month.

The FBI?s National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) vets millions of gun purchase transactions every year. But the thousands of gun seizure requests highlight persistent problems in a system where analysts must complete background checks within three days of the proposed purchase. If the background check is not complete within the 72-hour time limit, federal law allows the sale to go forward. ATF agents are asked to take back the guns if the FBI later finds these sales should have been denied.

Its about fucking time

Good idea - take the guns from the crazy fuckers who didnt pass the background checks.

its only taken them 10 yrs

must have been the gun lobby that stopped them

Donald Trump's speaking cadence became irregular and his speech slurred through part of his speech Wednesday announcing changes to America's Israel policy.
Speculation about the oratory oddity became national water-cooler talk after Trump finished his remarks by saying 'God bless the United Shhtates. Thank you very much-sh.' A White House spokesman says the president merely had a case of 'dry mouth.'
Conspiracy theorists on Twitter launched into high gear, including Democratic partisans who speculated about every possible cause from a mini-stroke to cocaine use.
But a Virginia dentist consulted by DailyMail.com watched a video of the speech Wednesday afternoon and concluded that the speech quirk 'sounds like a loose denture plate.'
'Saliva can get trapped between an upper plate and the palate ? or between the lower plate and the lower jaw ? and that's what makes the noise,' he said.

The Pew Research Center poll finds that just 32 percent of Americans approve of how Trump is handling his job as president. Sixty-three percent of Americans say they disapprove.

Trump's 32-percent approval rating is a new low in the Pew poll. The group's most recent survey, conducted in October, found Trump held a 34 percent approval rating after three consecutive surveys dating back to February measured his approval rating at 39 percent.

The 63 percent of Americans who disapprove of Trump's job as president is the highest Pew has measured in the poll, topping a previous high of 59 percent in Pew's October survey.
